Free Don Rosa UNCLE SCROOGE Original Art!
Howdy!
Today's
newsletter
is another that I am having to compose early in the morning, as I need to leave Long Island for Philadelphia in a couple of hours. I have a meeting in Philly early this afternoon which may prove particularly beneficial for us, so I need to be there two days before this weekend's exciting
Wizard World Philadelphia
convention officially begins. I will then need to drive back to Long Island tonight, so that I can pick up my assistant, Ashley, and our convention inventory. I'll then drive back to Philly tomorrow morning so that we can set up for the con. Racking up all this mileage is precisely why I choose to rent our cargo vans (with unlimited miles...) during my East Coast visits, rather than just buy one of our own....
While I am hustling to keep up, our teams in Denver are equally challenged. The good news is that we received back the counter-signed papers on our proposed new 65,000 square foot warehouse on Jason St. on Monday. With any luck, we will have keys to that new facility within a couple of weeks.
In the meantime, however, Bill and James are struggling to load even more tractor trailers at our old Fox St. warehouse complex, where the new management company is pressuring us to leave ASAP. Based on what I observed on Friday, I am estimating that we are about 60%-65% done with that massive move of our back-up warehouse, but there are still at least five or six more trailers left to fill with comics, books, and fixtures of all kinds. Thank goodness that we now have someplace on the horizon where we can ultimately unload them...
Given the pressure, under which Bill and James are loading up Fox St., I wish that I could transfer some of our staff from our main warehouse over to help them. Since we are now projecting that we will soon be about ten days behind in shipping orders, however, there is just no way that I can strip down our fulfillment crew at this time. Instead,
I am hiring some temporaries to help with the warehouse move, while simultaneously asking for everyone working in our main warehouse to come in on this upcoming Saturday to help with working down our shipping backlog. It is going to be a challenging week for us, but in many, many ways things are going quite well right now. In moments like this, you have to remember to count your blessings...

Speaking of blessings, I did want to quickly mention that I was able to get my new Bear motif tattoo applied last evening. The final outcome pleases me very much, although spending nearly four hours being inked on my chest (especially right on the sternum/breast bone) was a little harder to bear than some other spots. I now need to have two more Avanyus applied (beginning on my ribs, running up to the front of my shoulders, and then ending with a swan-like arch above the bears on my chest) on the 27th of this month.
My body art vision will then be complete, at least for the time being. In case you're wondering, the two side Avanyus are intended to convey some of the positive energy of the very elaborate Pueblo Indian prayer that I already have on my back, directly into the bear claw shield now on my chest. While in many ways esthetically pleasing, my tattoos actually have far greater meaning to me than mere decoration. 'Nuff said.
I'll close out today's newsletter with a reminder to everyone that we have reinstated the 50% off NANETTE2 codeword for you, at least for the rest of this week (please keep in mind the codeword does not apply to new comics, statues, or supplies).
If you do chose to place an order utilizing the half price sale, however, please do bear in mind that it will take us more than a week to ship your order. That having been said, Will and Pam are continuing to add some excellent older
comics
into our
New-In-Stock and
Premium New-In-Stock
listings for you. It will take you a little longer to get your package right now, but being able to score any of the eight million back issue
comics,
magazines,
trade paperbacks, and
hardbacks
listed on our entire
website
at half price right now, as well as all of the thousands of comics just listed in
New-In-Stock,
should still be well worth the little bit of delay.
Happy Collecting!

P.S. I almost forgot to mention that we are beginning a new raffle today, this time for a free original sketch of UNCLE SCROOGE by my good friend, DON ROSA. All you need to do to enter your name in this raffle is to place any order with us for $20, or more. If you ask in the "notes" section of the order form (you must ask!) to be entered in the raffle, for every $20 increment of your order, your name will be entered one more time.
Or, if you wish, you can enter one time (only) without any purchase by simply writing to Will Moulton at moulton@milehighcomics.com. We will choose the winner of this great piece of original art next Wednesday, so do hurry to get your orders in to us right away!
