A very short newsletter today, as I am due at the Heroes Aren't Hard To Find warehouse in just 20 minutes. Heroes is the great retail store here in Charlotte, NC owned by Shelton Drum. Shelton is the fantastically talented organizer of Heroes Con, which will be held over this upcoming weekend. I have said this before, but I want to repeat for those of you who are new readers of this newsletter, that Heroes Con is my favorite comics convention of the year. It is reasonably large, but what really makes it special is that it is so clearly oriented just towards reading and collecting comics. At the same time, the people who live here in Charlotte, as well as all of Shelton's family and staff, are just about as nice of people as you will find anywhere in America. If you can at all make it to Charlotte over this weekend, I think that you will have a really great experience!

As regards news from Mile High Comics, we are in the middle right now of a huge project to intentionally downgrade approximately 100,000 Marvel and DC back issues. What this means is that we are going through all of the back issues that turned out to be surplus from my last dozen buying trips, and lowering their grades (even though they may be in Near Mint) to Good, Very Good, Fine, and Very Fine. Our goal in this endeavor is to provide you with a great many lower-priced options in the listings that we offer you on our website, even in those titles and issue numbers where we oftentimes are able to purchase only high-grade copies.

In case you're wondering about my motivations in ordering these downgrades, it is fairly simply. It seems silly to me to have 100 extra copies of a comic in storage in NM, when we have none available for you in the lower grades. Therefore, I have asked Pam to have her team concentrate exclusively for the next couple of weeks on downgrading hundreds of long boxes filled with NM comics, into lower grades. If you check out New-In-Stock for today, you will see an amazing number of lower grade comics appearing in the listings. Most of those issues are at least VF, if not NM, but are being entered in grades that cost far less. This is just one more way that I'm working for you to make Mile High Comics the very best comics website on the entire Internet!

My final item for today is a special treat for those of you who would like to place smaller orders with us. As a special one-week offer, I am lowering our free shipping minimums for you from $50 on domestic orders to only $20, and our free shipping minimums on International orders from $125 to only $50! Lowering these minimums in such a drastic fashion is actually going to cost us quite a bit of cash flow, but I know that times are still tight for many of you, and I want to help you in any way that I possibly can. In addition, the fact that so many of our intentional downgrades are going to be available at such low retail prices means, ironically, that it will actually be harder to get to the old free shipping minimums. That being the case, I decided pretty much unilaterally this morning that I would give everyone a break this morning by slashing our shipping minimums for a week. Please enjoy!

Happy Collecting!

In case you missed it, the way my new Bonus Book program works is pretty simple. Place your order with us as you usually would, and then ask in the "notes" section of our order form for your free item(s). If your order totals $50 (just as an example...) you would not only receive free shipping for orders being delivered in the USA, but would also be able to select either two Bonus Books from the $20 list, or one Bonus Book from the $50 list. A $125 order (which is the level at which our International buyers earn free shipping) would earn the right to select up to six items from the $20 list, or a combination of several items from the $20 and $50 list.

A couple of quick terms for the giveaway program. First, we have limited supplies on a few of these items, so some will undoubtedly run out over the next couple of weeks. We do have enough for orders received this week, however, so if you order quickly all of the above giveaways should be in stock. As items do eventually run out, even more cool items will be continually added to replace them. My goal is to keep this giveaway program fun, and interesting! Second, you can order multiples of the same item, if you wish. Third, you will need to manually ask for each item you've earned via the "notes" section of the order form, as we have no way to automate this program. Finally, our International patrons need to be aware that we do still need to add the small per book shipping fees to any request for books to be delivered to International destinations.
