4,500 Silver Age and Bronze Age Comics Half Price, Or Less!
Howdy!
Ashley and I are in Northampton, MA today. I think that we may be snowed in for this evening. There's a big storm moving up the East Coast, with the Weather Channel is predicting 8-12 inches in the Boston area, which is our next destination.
As much as I like to keep on our pre-set travel schedule, living in Colorado all of these years has taught me that you do not push your luck too much in winter driving conditions. It's really no big deal, actually, as we are not at all rushed on this trip. If necessary we will just take it easy here in Northampton this evening, and then head for Boston in the morning, once the roads have cleared.
Weather aside, I am actually in quite good mood this morning. We are here in Northampton working with our friend, Gary Dolgoff. Gary has been selling comics darn near as long as I have, and has managed to fill his little warehouse with a nice inventory of older comics.
That having been said, Gary and I have had a difficult time working together in the past, as his wholesale prices were always just slightly above what we could afford to pay. Gary has come around during this past year, however, and lowered his prices to us. This means that we can now make pretty sizable deals, with relative ease. Just yesterday, for example, I purchased 4,500
Silver Age and
Bronze Age
comics from Gary, and began the process of picking over 1,000 selected issues from his overstock magazine file. If we do end up staying in Northampton overnight, I will just pick a few more of Gary's magazines tomorrow morning. Whatever happens, we'll certainly be keeping busy...
Another factor that significantly brightens my mood this morning is the thought that the deals that I am making on this trip will be helping significantly in my ongoing efforts to keep our
back issue comics and magazine
prices exceptionally low for you on
our website.
As you already know, we cut the dickens out of our comics prices for you back in October (as well as implementing free shipping for all back issue orders) and have for the most part been able to keep those drastically low prices in effect for you ever since. It has been a genuine concern of mine, however, that we may have gone a bit too far in our discounting, and that we might thus run out of stock on some popular issues.
For the most part, however, our very active buying efforts have obviated that problem by keeping a steady supply of fresh back issues flowing to Pam's inventory crew. This has meant that we have had a wonderful balance occurring, where we temporarily sell out of certain issues, but oftentimes have them right back in stock again.
Being able to restock even at our current low comics prices makes me very happy, as I see no future to comics collecting as a hobby if the cost becomes excessive for ordinary comics fans.
Thanks specifically to our traveling to find collections, however, we are now able to offer you an incredibly broad selection of choice 1940's -1980's comics at retail prices that are 40%-60% off the prices that they were just five years ago. Factor in the added benefit of our periodic codeword sales, such as today's 20% off WOODCHUCK sale, and our
website comics prices
become a remarkable bargain for you at a net 50%-68% off of our pre-October website listings. It's a great feeling when you take a risk when trying to do something good, and everything turns out well for all parties...
On a related topic, one important consideration for you that I have not mentioned in a while is our free e-mail notification program. If you collect issues where we presently have no copies in stock, or where we do not have the specific grade that you are seeking, you can sign up to have an e-mail sent to you the minute that items is posted to
our website.
Participation in our
free want list program
is incredibly simple, as it only requires for you to create a personal password. This password will allow you to add, or delete, items from your want list whenever you wish.
To be absolutely clear about
our want list program,
there is absolutely no obligation for you to make a purchase from us if an e-mail is sent to you, and we do nothing with the want list information except to occasionally compile the overall numbers to help us determine which issues to buy at conventions. The goal of our want list program is simply to help you to immediately know when scarce back issue comics, magazines, trade paperbacks, and hardbacks arrive in our inventory.
With our lower prices creating a much higher turnover velocity in our overall inventory (a great many scarce comics now sell out within 24 hours of being posted...) participating in our free want list program can really be of great help to you. 'Nuff said.
I'll close put today's newsletter by reminding everyone that our 20% off WOODCHUCK codeword now has less than a week left to run (please keep in mind the codeword does not apply to new comics, statues, or supplies). Also, don't forget to mention in the notes section of our order form when placing an order with us that you would like to be entered in our Groundhog's Day giveaway program. Each $20 increment of your order earns you one more entry in the drawing for one of 10 shopping sprees on
our website.
The grand prize winner gets to choose between one of the 7 great comics listed at the end of this website, or a $500 shopping spree for any
back issue on our website.
Second prize is a $200 shopping spree, three additional names will be drawn for $100 shopping sprees, and then five more names for $50 shopping sprees. With ten chances to win, your odds are surprisingly good! If you do not wish to place an order with us right now, you can also enter the drawing (once) just by sending your request to Byron in customer service at
back_issue@milehighcomics.com.
Please do enjoy this fun contest with our sincere thanks for being a part of our Mile High Comics "family."
Well, that's it for today. I'm off now to pick more magazines from Gary's stock. Before I forget, I do need to mention that Pam has added over 10,000 comics for you into our
New-In-Stock and
Premium New-In-Stock
listings since just Monday! A slew of great comics that were out-of-stock just last week are already available for you, again. But, please do place your order with us quickly if you see something that you want on
our website,
as the additional 20% off savings provided by the WOODCHUCK codeword have spurred an even faster turnover of our stock. It's just crazy how many thousands of comics that we are now selling each day...
Happy Collecting!
