Marvel Comics Buying List Completed! Howdy! It is with significant relief and happiness that I am able to report that I finally finished the entire Marvel Comics Buying List. I apologize to those of you who have been waiting patiently for U-Z to be finished, but once I stopped writing buying prices back in June, it just seemed impossible for me to find the time to get back to this project. I finally decided in the middle of last week that I would just put off all my other projects until I got the last few letters of the buying list (including the all-important X-MEN titles) completed. DC's are next, with my beginning on ACTION early next week. In the meantime, however, I am going to take a long weekend to travel to a three day RG Munn pottery auction in Alamagordo, New Mexico. I need the time to recover, as I have quite a stiff neck and headache today, after five straight days of analysis and frenzied typing of Marvel buying prices... While I'm taking a two days off for a little R & R, life is going very well here at Mile High Comics. Our head buyer, Pam Brandle, is continuing to receive dozens of phone calls and e-mails (303-455-2659 - pam@milehighcomics.com) each day from collectors looking to sell some, or all of their comics. With a darn near unlimited buying budget, Pam has been scooping up scores of collections. At the same time, we're selling comics like crazy at our current 80% off discounts. The net result is that this place is like an overturned anthill, with people scurrying all over the place trying to keep up with all the orders, e-mails, and phone calls. The one discouraging bit of news is that I have yet to hear anything from the owners of that huge warehouse that I am trying to buy. I haven't given up yet, but if they don't respond to our offer of a lease/purchase deal by the time that I get back on Monday, I'm going to have to just renew our leases at our two Fox St. warehouses, and try again next year. My good friend, Michael Carbonaro, recently sold his interest in Big Apple conventions to Gareb Shamus, the owner of WIZARD magazine. Gareb has taken Michael's annual 3-day fall convention ("The National") and converted it into a second huge New York comics convention, competing directly with Reed Exposition's New York Comic-Con. The show begins on Friday, and runs through this upcoming weekend. Since this is this first show under Wizard's ownership, Gareb and Michael asked me to offer everyone who reads this newsletter a special $5 discount on admission. I agreed to go along, so here is their flyer. As you can see, Jim Lee and Joe Quesada are their headliners.
