Free BEFORE WATCHMEN #1 Comic Howdy! 1st Load of Comics I am taking a significant gamble today. I have two shipping options for that fantastic 38,000 issue comics collection that I purchased last Thursday, plus the thousands of comics that I purchased at this past weekend's WizardWorld Philadelphia comics convention. The first offers me guaranteed delivery of four 2000 lb pallets in Denver by next Monday, for $2400. My second option will deliver my entire six pallet shipment for only $1300, but with no delivery guarantee. What makes this freight decision difficult for me is that that we would really like this great collection of back issues to be in Denver well before next Thursday's (June 14th) party at our Jason St. Mega-Store for the Denver Comic-Con. After considering all of our options, however, I finally decided that the extra $1100 in shipping was just too much for us to afford for guaranteed delivery. Instead, I'll be packing our six tons of comics today for shipment back to Denver, with no idea of when they will arrive. Sigh... Chuck and Chris Morse While packing up those six pallets of comics is going to make for a very strenuous day for myself and my assistant, Ashley, we are both still basking in a happy glow from the Philadelphia show. While sales were unexpectedly slow in the dealer's room this year, I heard not one exhibitor express that they would not be coming back next year. First off, Philadelphia is a fun town with a great nightlife, but it is also true that WizardWorld's convention team has gained such experience and proficiency at hosting really huge events, that they make being a dealer at one of their large shows as painless and easy as exhibiting at a one-day motel event. My congratulations to the entire WizardWorld team for a job well done! In other news, DC Comics is releasing the first of their epic BEFORE WATCHMEN comics on Wednesday. I had no idea that this new #1 was coming so soon, and I have heard similar sentiments expressed by other professional comics dealers. I am not sure if DC intended to keep the date of the release of BEFORE WATCHMEN #1 a secret, but if that was their intention, they did a really good job. Before Watchmen: Minutemen #1 Whatever the case may be, BEFORE WATCHMEN #1 appears to be yet another title that was drastically under ordered by most comics retailers. If the story turns out to be popular, I believe that this new DC title could easily follow in the footsteps of AVENGERS VS. X-MEN, which ended up pretty much selling out nationwide on it's day of release. With that thought in mind, I had our inventory manager, Will Moulton, place a last-minute reorder with DC for another 300 copies of BEFORE WATCHMEN #1. You can receive a free copy of this potentially groundbreaking title by simply placing any $20 back issue order with us via our website, and then asking for your free copy of BEFORE WATCHMEN #1 in the "notes" section of our online order form.
