New Codeword Today - Plus Three Marvel #1 Variants Howdy! I thought that you might want to know that a really nice collection of 1,100 recent comics walked in the door of our Jason St. Mega-Store last evening, just before closing. Aside from containing a broad selection of WOLVERINE, UNCANNY X-MEN, SPIDER-MAN, and CAPTAIN AMERICA issues from Marvel, there were also quite a few SPAWN and SAVAGE DRAGON issues from the past couple of years, as well as a nice selection of DC titles. Our buying this collection of newer comics is particularly significant because most recent issues have print runs of less than 100,000 copies, and frequently less than 50,000 copies. With fewer than 1,000 copies per state available in the secondary market on most newer comics, it is becoming harder and harder for us to keep many recent issues in stock on our website. In part, this is why you will sometimes see prices for issues from the past few years set higher than for comics from the mid-1990's. Simply put, there are just fewer of them to go around. While we do buy quite a few newer collections during the course of any given year, it is important that you know that we have so many fans already registered in our automated "Want List" program to receive free notification e-mails whenever new issues arrive, that we tend to sell large portions of them very quickly. That is why I highly recommend your create your own personal "Want List" on our website. It takes almost no effort at all, as all that we ask you to do is to create a personal password for your account so that no one else can access your information. Once you have registered your password, you can then go through our entire database of comics listings and ask to receive an unlimited number of free e-mail notification whenever any comic, magazine, or book that you are seeking arrives in our inventory. It's just that easy. So you know, our free Want List notification e-mails are sent each morning at approximately 11 AM, which is the same time that our updated New-In-Stock and Premium New-In-Stock links are posted to our website. Because this information is widely available (we send out about 3,000 Want List notifications each day...) we highly encourage you to place an order with us right away if an item that you are avidly seeking for your collection and/or library comes available. We usually receive a flurry of orders each day right around noon, many of them triggered by Want List notifications. As a result, many scarce comics and collectibles are only available on our website for a few hours, at most. Do yourself a big favor, and create your own personal Want List with us today! Moving on to other news, I am starting a brand new 20% off REPAIRS codeword for you today. I had actually planned to go without a codeword sale for a little while, especially now that our repairs to the roof of our 56th Ave. headquarters building are finally complete. I recently received the bad news, however, that we have to dig up and repair (at our expense...) the pipe connecting our Mega-Store to the water main located in the center of Jason St. The initial bid on this job came in at $2,800, but I am already assuming that it will take longer, and cost far more. Sigh... Whatever the case may be, I don't have the money in hand to pay the excavators, so I have no choice but to rely on this new REPAIRS codeword sale to help to cover this expense. As a direct result, prices for these PHANTOM GROUP issues have been really jumping in the secondary market. We do still have a few copies of our previous PHANTOM GROUP variants available, but as you can see from our variants price list at the end of this newsletter, prices have been rising rapidly. If you at all can, I highly recommend your immediately locking in your copies of these very collectible Marvel Comics variants, while you still can.
