Three Great Events This Weekend Plus 50% Off Comics Howdy! I apologize for missing writing my newsletter on Monday, but I was just barely able to function enough to check out of my hotel, and to drive myself to the Los Angeles airport for my journey home. The mystery virus that laid me low over the weekend incapacitated me to such an extent that I suffered through migraine-like symptoms for over 36 hours, unable to eat, drink, or even to open my eyes. Experiencing that kind of discomfort alone in a hotel room 1,000 miles from home is something that I would never, ever wish on anyone. As of today, I am still not entirely recovered, as I now am dealing with a mysterious lower back affliction that makes even sleeping difficult for me. At least I am back at work at Mile High Comics, however, so my complaints are minimal. Truth be told, just being able to return to our wonderful Jason St. Mega-Store lifts my heart, and on many levels helps me to heal. Poker Flyer Getting back to 100% good health is super important to me right now, as I have three major events that I am hosting this weekend. The first is our November Texas Hold-em Poker Tournament, and the second is our very large no-minimum-bid comics and toys auction, both of which we have scheduled for this Saturday morning. These two events are designed to help us to raise money to pay for warm clothing for the people trying to survive in the bitter streets of lower downtown Denver and Albuquerque. If you live in the area and might have the time to visit us on Saturday, we would very much appreciate your support. Registration for poker begins at 10 AM, and my auction (filled with incredible bargains) begins at 11:30. Both are loads of fun! Auction Flyer My third event for this weekend is our monthly family-friendly All-Ages Drag Show on Sunday, which begins seating at 5:00 PM, with my giving the opening performance (as Bettie) at 6:00 PM. Our shows are typically attended by 300-400 joyful parents and children, so I encourage everyone to arrive early for best seating. Almost all of our dozen+ youth performers move from the stage into the crowd during the performances, however, so there really are no bad seats. Warm snacks have been promised for our attendees this month by the awesome owners of our wonderful Denver Hamburger Mary's, so it should be a great evening of fun! Kids especially like our shows, so do try to bring your entire family for a heartwarming experience that you will all greatly enjoy. I am working this afternoon on (slowly) putting my office/gallery back together, as John C. has 100% finished the area where my desk sits, and now needs me to rebuild my showcases, and shift another 1,000 pottery pieces out of his way so that he can continue laying my new laminate flooring on the mezzanine outside my office. My new floor looks truly fabulous, but oh-my-goodness! moving all 3,000 pieces of my pottery that I had already unpacked (twice) is an extraordinary amount of work.
