Howdy!

Aleta and Wes

A very short newsletter today, as I need to pack for my trip to Los Angeles. I'll be leaving at the crack of dawn tomorrow (Thursday), so that I can be in LA by noon, on Friday. I'm driving a big cargo van out there to help our daughter, Aleta, move her apartment furniture back to Colorado for temporary storage. She is leaving very soon for France with her companion of many years, Wesley Walker. Wes recently graduated with a PHD in Organic Chemistry from UCLA, but no permanent positions are available in the American chemical industry right now. In point of fact, most chemical companies have been slashing their existing staff, which means that many of the PHD graduates who were hired over the past couple of years are now also out of work. So, when Wes was offered a temporary research position, he took it, even though it meant moving to France. Aleta is going with him because she loves France, and speaks a considerable amount of French. Since Wes speaks none, we figure that having Aleta along may help to keep Wes sane...

While I'm gone to LA, William Murakami, our Vice President of Operations, will be running the company. His goal is to have us completely current with our shipping of orders as September 30th, so I have given him even broader latitude to transfer our remaining inventory staff and support personnel to helping pull orders. I received our preliminary sales results yesterday for the first 20 days of September, and presuming that we have a strong finish, it appears that this month will end up being our best September, ever! That's not too shabby in the middle what is now being called The Great Recession... I thank all of you who have contributed to our success this month, as it was your kind support that allowed us to do so well. We really do appreciate your helping us.

On the sales front, the 80% off sale that I have had in effect for the past 11 days on a great many of our comics will end on this upcoming Friday, at noon, Colorado time. I have another sale scheduled for the end of this month, but the benefits of that sale on top of our existing 80% discounts would simply be too much. So, the 80% off sale has to end, so that the new sale can begin. You now have only 48 hours left in which to place orders for a great many of the comics that we list on our website at 80% off.

Happy Collecting!
