50% Off Selected Marvel Comics Trade Paperbacks This Weekend Only Howdy! New Arrivals at Jason Street Mega Store After having to take a week off from writing this newsletter, I am back with more news and deals from Mile High Comics. First the news: we have received confirmations from fan favorites, Jim Shooter and Chris Claremont, that they will make a return appearance at our Jason St. Mega-Store on May 4th, Free Comic Book Day! Both of these incredibly talented men are good friends of mine, so I am very much looking forward to having them see all of the changes that we have made (and are continuing to make...) to Jason St. If you have not already noted FCBD on your calendar, you really should do so immediately. We are going to make a really big deal out of that fun event this year! As regards changes at Jason St., those of you visiting the store over the next couple of weeks are going to see a rapid movement of all of our $1 comics from the south end of the building, over to a newly expanded area on the north end of the building. This is being done in order to allow us to finally bring to fruition a plan that we have had for several months to build a world-class comics trade paperbacks and comics hardbacks store where the $1 comics are now located. We have over 50 new book and magazine racks currently in storage on our loading dock, waiting only for the new space on the north end of the building to finally open. Charley and Randy are making excellent progress, so we might be able to start the big move by the end of next week. In the meantime, please pardon our dust... Before I move on from the concept of our new bookstore in Jason St., I did want to mention that part of our strategy for this new store is that we are going to try and face as many books out as we can. In order to facilitate having more display space, we are going to need to greatly slim down the number of books that we offer as new releases. Simply put, once a book has been out for 36 months, we are going to relocate it to our vast back issue book inventory shelves, located in the back of Jason St. You will certainly still be able to ask for any of these books, but they will no longer be out on display. The criteria for relocation is currently set for any books published prior to 2010. If you would like to purchase any pre-2010 books at cover price (we have over 5,000 still out on our shelves...) I strongly encourage you shop our existing Jason St. bookshelves as soon as you can. While some of our books will soon be put into storage, we are going to continue our ongoing program of purchasing vast numbers of discounted books whenever the publishers offer us a special deal. In today's instance, Marvel sent us a list a couple of weeks ago of 49 different trade paperbacks that they had decided to liquidate from their book inventory. We purchased enough copies of each title that we will have them allow sale for you this weekend in Jason St., with copies of most of the more popular ones also being offered at Colorado Blvd., Lakewood, and Littleton. All of these Marvel books will be priced for you at half of cover price, but for this weekend only! After this weekend, any remaining books will be added to our back issue website inventory. My final news item for today is a quick mention that Jon and Randy have been struggling all week to keep up with the tremendous number of back issues that are being sent over from our main warehouse, specifically for the Jason St. Silver Age and Bronze Age comics inventories. I purchased over 120,000 great back issues while on my recent buying trip to the East Coast, with just about every title and publisher that you can imagine being a part of my deals. We are sending pretty much ALL of the older comics over to Jason St., specifically so that their New Arrivals bins will be growing each and every day for you.
