Rare Stan Lee Photo + $20 Bargain Sets Howdy! After a really good day yesterday, my health is a bit marginal today. Not a big deal, but when my mental acuity starts slipping and thoughts become hard for me to form, that is a pretty good indication that my West Nile encephalitis is back. The good news is that I can function OK during these episodes, it just gets harder for me to think through questions, and to remember what I am doing (or where I am...) at any given moment. The good news is that my disorientation today is pretty mild, which is consistent with my gradually healing in the past. That being the case, I am just going to keep taking it easy by mostly spending my day quietly shelving Pueblo pottery, in my new museum that I am building on the 2nd floor of Jason St. Sigh. Beach photo During the time when I was feeling better yesterday, I posted two fun history pieces from my past on to both my personal Charles Rozanski FB, and also to our official Mile High Comics FB. The first post is a quick story about my saving my daughter, Aleta's, life on our way home from San Diego Comic-Con, and the second references Richard Alf, the very kind man who sold me his comic book mail order business way back in 1978. Some of you may have already seen these posts pop up in your FB feed, but that only will be the case if you have hit "like" and "follow" for Mile High Comics. Otherwise, you will have to pull up our page manually to read those two stories. Both have been getting very positive initial reviews. 1977 ad Another aspect to our use of FB took a step forward yesterday, as Pam, Lisa, and Frank all created specialized posts about new arrivals in their areas of endeavor. Lisa's 200+ Funko Pop! figures from the huge private collection that we purchased yesterday were the most popular, but Pam's awesome array of newly-arrived comics, and Frank's trade paperbacks and hardbacks, also generated a lot of interest. Once again, however, you will only see these postings in your feed if you "Like" and "Follow" our Mile High Comics FB page. Funko Pops While Lisa, Pam, and Frank are creating posts to show off some of the best and most attractive of our new arrivals, I am working on a personal program to go through Pam's duplicate back issue comics in order to create small genre packs. I am starting out my new FB program with the goal to create 500 (#1-#500) of my new "CHUCK'S OVERSTOCK LOT" sets, each containing 12 different comics that are from really nice titles, but where the caprice of circumstance has provided more copies to us than Pam thinks that we can easily sell in the near future. My genre sets will be priced at a flat $20, with each set being totally unique in its composition. CHUCK'S OVERSTOCK LOT #1 So you know, all of my genre packs will be stored behind the front counter at Jason St. If you can pick one up in the store, then there is no shipping charge. Online orders, however, will be treated exactly the same as if you ordered any other back issue, with free shipping available once your entire order reaches our minimum of $60 for Domestic orders, and $150 for International orders. Stan and I were friends for well over 40 years, and this photo reflects another instance when he came through for me in a big way. The story should be posted on our FB by this (Friday) evening. Miss Jessica’s family-friendly All-Ages Drag Show flyer Once again (presuming that I am feeling better), I will give the opening performance on Sunday evening at our 11th! monthly All-Ages Drag Show. Seating for our show will begin at 5 PM, with my performance at approximately 6 PM. I am working on performing a very dynamic number by Aretha Franklin, which is exceptionally fun, but also quite challenging. Wish me luck... Two other bits of news about the drag show 1) legendary Denver Drag Diva, Nina Montaldo, has committed to perform for us this month, which would be quite a treat. Nina has been the most popular drag performer in Denver for over 40 years, and is the "Mother" of the House of Montaldo, which is (by far...) Denver's most prestigious drag ensemble. In addition, Mile High Hamburger Mary's has committed to bring everyone an exceptional free pasta dinner for all who attend, with the only cost being voluntary tips to support the White Rose Scholarship Fund.
