Local News Huge After-Christmas Sale plus Warehouse Auction
Howdy!
I would like to begin today's newsletter by sincerely thanking those of you who supported
Mile High Comics
with your patronage during this holiday season. Thanks to your kindness, the 30 of us who
work at Mile High Comics
will be able to provide our own families with Christmas cheer. We are genuinely
grateful to you for thinking of us during this blessed time of year.
I would also like to extend a special "Thank You!" to those of you who supported our
recent comics and toys benefit auctions, and our December 5 Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament.
Below are photos of my presenting our donation checks from those events to staff members
at
Urban Peak
(which helps shelter homeless teens) and to
Rainbow Alley
(which protects
and counsels at-risk LGBTQ kids). Thanks to your generous support, we were able to make
the holidays just a little bit brighter for kids in need.
Tonight was the annual CGRA (Colorado Gay Rodeo Association) potluck dinner
for the kids at Rainbow Alley, a shelter and support center for LGBTQ kids in Denver.
Aside from helping Norrie Reynolds bring in the food she prepared for the potluck,
I also brought along a cash donation of $1,053.00 that I raised in my position of
Prince Royale 42 of the ICRME. Lynnette Schweimler ("T") accepted our donation just
before we began feeding the 100+ Rainbow Alley kids. It was a fantastic and heartwarming
evening!
My second donation this wonderful afternoon was an ICRME check for $1,587.00
to Nadine Bridges, the Director of Rainbow Alley. I chose Rainbow Alley as my
designated Prince Royale 42 charity, so I held a benefit poker tournament for
them earlier this month. Bobb Ringer, and several other members of the Royal
Poker Club (which began in BJ's Carousel) helped run the event, so my sincere
gratitude goes out to them all for their kind assistance.
My heart is filled with joy today, as I drop off holiday donation checks
at two more of the charities that I have supported in my role as Prince Royale
42 of the Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire. My first stop today
was at Urban Peak, where I handed over an ICRME check for $1,287.00 to help
homeless teens with Joshua Zmroczek, Urban Peak's Director of Development
and Public Affairs.
As an aside, we do still have our huge donation box set up for
Urban Peak in our
Jason St. Mega-Store,
so if you have any reasonable quality used coats, jackets,
sweaters, etc. you could donate, your contribution would be very much appreciated.
The really cold weather is just about to begin, and a significant number of the
thousands of teens served by
Urban Peak are forced to sleep on the streets, even in
the most bitter weather. Personal toiletries (such as the little bottles of shampoo
you get at hotels) are also very much appreciated.
Moving on to upcoming events, I will begin by announcing that we are going to be
hosting an incredible after-Christmas sale this weekend at all of our
Mile High Comics retail stores.
Effective immediately, the following extremely generous discounts are in effect
for you:
*50% OFF BACK ISSUE COMICS
*50% OFF TRADE PAPERBACKS
*50% OFF HARDCOVERS
*50% OFF STATUES & BUSTS
*40% OFF T-SHIRTS AND APPAREL
*40% OFF TOYS & ACTION FIGURES
In addition to offering these amazing discounts over this weekend, I will also be
conducting a
huge no-minimum-bid auction
at our
Jason St. Mega-Store
on Saturday morning,
beginning at 11:30 AM. This auction will feature hundreds of great comics and
collectibles that I have unearthed during the initial stages of our great warehouse
merger. As the photos at the end of this newsletter clearly illustrate, we have a
remarkably diverse and interesting array of comics, toys, statues, prints, posters,
and much more that will be going up for sale on Saturday, all without reserve. Many
of these items MUST be sold during Saturday's auction, so I can personally promise you
that there will be exceptional bargains for everyone who attends our auction. Free
refreshments will be served.
I will close by sending you our very best holiday wishes. We sincerely hope that you
are blessed by comfort, joy, and the love of friends and family during this magical
time of year.
Merry Christmas!
