Christmas Gift Items At Mile High Comics!

Howdy!

After months of preparation, our final holiday shipments of comics, trade paperbacks, hardback books, statues, standees, t-shirts, and toys arrived on Wednesday. Combined with the many weeks of large shipments we received earlier, we have now assembled our best-ever selection of really cool comics-related gifts for collectors both young, and old.

More Trade Paperbacks and Hard Covers

That having been said, I do recommend that you visit your favorite Mile High Comics location as soon as possible, as we emphasized diversity this year, rather than depth. Simply put, we assembled an amazingly broad selection of all kinds of different items for you, but not many copies of each. That being the case, the earlier that can you shop with us, the wider your range of options will be. We will certainly be restocking a few traditional gift items (such as WATCHMEN trade paperbacks) prior to Christmas, but at least a few of our fun and eclectic items will sell out this week. For best selection, please do try to visit us this weekend, if you can...

Comics for Kids

Toys and Action Figures

In other news, our annual holiday auction scheduled for Saturday, December 20th, is now complete, with photos of all 1,200 items now posted to our Facebook page. While an auction of that many items may seem daunting, it actually consists of just 100 lots, each containing twelve items. Our auctions are then conducted as no-minimum-bid "Choice" auctions, where the winning bidder can take any one of the twelve items contained in that lot, or up to all twelve. In most instances winning bidders at our auctions choose only one or two items from the lot they have won, at which point we then allow the person who finished second in the bidding to choose. This makes our auctions go very quickly, with most auctions lasting less than 90 minutes.

If you check out the 100 photos of our auction lots, one pattern that you may recognize is that we have many items in our auction that are priced in the $10-$20 range. In practice, that means that most will sell in the $2-$6 range. That is a bit lower than our typical auction average, but our holiday auction is especially geared toward helping kids. If you want to have a great time with a young collector you know, bring them to next Saturday's auction. I can assure you that I always give preference to young collectors at our auction events, and make sure that they go home with wonderful bargains.

Special Benefit Auction

I will close today's newsletter with another request for donations for the benefit portion of next Saturday's auction. If you have any unwanted comics, toys, books, etc. that you would be willing to donate, we would be glad to auction them to help provide shelter to the 2,000+ teens who are currently forced to live on the streets of Denver. This is an event that I am hosting as an officer of the 41st Imperial Family of the Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire, a group that I have worked with for several years. The ICRME is a civic organization that has over the past 41 years raised millions of dollars to donate to other registered charities in Denver. With bitter cold weather about to hit, we are working right now to raise a little money for Urban Peak, a local group that specificity tries to help local teens in need. Donations of new cold weather clothing, and also personally-sized toiletries, would also be gladly accepted at any of our Mile High Comics locations.

Happy Holidays!

P.S. To clarify our auction times, the Urban Peak benefit auction will begin on Saturday, December 20th, at 11:30 AM. I will auction all Urban Peak donations individually, including the Barry Smith signed "Pandora" lithograph that I personally contributed. Once the Urban Peak benefit auction is over, we will immediately commence into auctioning our own 100 lots. My best guesstimate is that the entire auction will run from about 11:30-2 PM. Refreshments will be served, and short period of special bargains in the Jason St. store will immediately follow for all auction bidders. I hope that we will see you next Saturday morning!
