Howdy!

I flew home late last evening from Las Vegas, where I had been attending this year's Coronation ceremonies of our International Imperial Court System Las Vegas Court. I had quite a good time in Las Vegas (even though I do not drink or gamble...) because a wonderful assortment of over 300 of my friends from 50 local Courts from around the United States and Canada were also there to celebrate with me. I was especially pleased that Emperor Kayden and Empress Vega were there from Salt Lake City, as well as Empress Tempest Windz-Foxx from Ogden. Kayden appointed me as his out-of-town 1/2 Emperor for this year's SLC reign, which was a very kind honor for him to have bestowed upon me.

I am truly blessed to know and love the awesome Utah Monarchs Kayden Petersen-Craig, Vega Starr, and Tempest Windz-Foxx!

I mention my trip to Las Vegas primarily because of an unusual occurrence on my flight home. To explain, I seldom (if ever...) talk to people sitting near me when flying. It is not that I am unfriendly, but rather that I try very hard to rest, as I know that I typically have hit the ground running when I get to my destination. Last evening was an exception, however, as I had a young man sitting next to me ask me about my Imperial Court System jacket. When I explained that our Court System is the oldest LGBTQ charitable organization in America, and that our 70 Courts have raised well over $28,000,000 for hundreds of different organizations that serve our Community, he wanted to know more. In particular, given that he had just graduated college and had taken a job with a small Denver non-profit, he wanted to know how he could achieve similar success in fundraising.

Here are the small bits of wisdom that I passed on to him:

1) Pace yourself, so that you will always have the energy to do your best.

2) Always remember to lead by personal example. Strive to work as hard (or harder) than those that you are blessed to lead.

3) At the same time as you lead by example, however, never forget that very little is accomplished for the greater good by single individuals working alone, regardless of how much talent they have, or the effort that they expend. The real secret to making the world a better place is realizing that all the people around you have an untapped potential for goodness and charity in their hearts. Becoming the catalyst that provides good people with a pathway to easily tap into their own positive energies is the true key to successful fundraising. Simply put, our job is not to solve the problems of the world, but rather to inspire those around us to do so. Only by amplifying and combining their energies can we then truly create positive change in our communities.

While my advice to this young man may sound a little preachy and simplistic, the reality is that I have been remarkably blessed over the years to have received bountiful assistance in my own charitable efforts from those who read this newsletter, both local comics fans, and fans from around the world. That is why I am going to once again offer everyone the chance to help the homeless of Denver survive the bitter cold of December and January by contributing to a fund that I am putting together to purchase hats, gloves, scarves, and warm socks for those who are forced to sleep in the bitter cold in the parks and alleys.

Mile High Comics gift certificate

Finally, My offer is very simple: purchase a Mile High Comics gift certificate this week for $25 (or more...) and I will contribute 100% of your purchase toward buying cold weather gear. I will then donate some of that warm clothing to "Feeding Denver's Hungry," some to "A Light In the Night" (in Albuquerque), and some I will pass out myself to people struggling to stay warm in lower downtown Denver. Please understand that the people who sleep on the streets (or who walk all night to stay warm) are those who are oftentimes the most vulnerable. Teens, transgender women, the disabled, and the elderly are regularly victimized when seeking help in the large shelters, so they have no choice but to try to survive outdoors. These "shadow people" are the ones that I try my very best to help when our colder nights make the outdoors nearly unbearable. A pair of warm socks may not sound like a big deal, but I have met people who lost toes (and fingers) to frostbite while trying to avoid being harmed. Any assistance that you could provide me in my outreach efforts to help these desperate people would be most appreciated. Thank you.

In other news, Will and Pam did both purchase very nice collections of a diverse assortment of cool comics late last week, some of which are listed for you at the end of this newsletter, and rest of which should be added into our Premium New-In-Stock link later this week. My beloved wife, Nanette, (who pays our bills...) still has several invoices that she wants me to cover before the end of the month, so our year-end 60% off NANETTE codeword sale is still in effect for you on all ten million of our back issue comics and magazines listed for you on our huge website. Only new issues, a few variants, and our professionally-graded comics are excluded from the 60% off sale. Enjoy!

POKER FLYER

Finally, for those of you who shop in our wonderful Jason St. Mega-Store, we are hosting two huge events this Saturday. Starting at 10 AM we will be checking in all of the players for our huge Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament. December's tournament is typically our biggest of the year, so we encourage everyone who is thinking of playing to register in advance at any one of our three retail locations. If you register prior to Saturday, your $25 entry fee is immediately reimbursed with a $25 Mile High Comics gift certificate. Also on Saturday morning, starting at 11:30 AM, is our largest no-minimum-bid comics and toys auction of the year. Not only are we auctioning hundreds of awesome Silver Age and rare Modern comics, but Lisa just purchased an immense collection of McFarlane toys, many of which will go directly into our auction. Bring the kids on Saturday, as we will have bargains galore! Both events also have charitable elements designed to help the poor...
