30,000 Comics $2 Each
plus Huge Toy and Comics Auction

Howdy!

I wanted to send you a quick reminder note today about this Saturday's incredible $2 comics sale. Starting from the moment that we open our Jason St. Mega-Store on Saturday morning, you will have the opportunity to select high grade back issues from a huge collection of 30,000 comics that we received just last Friday from Tulsa, OK. All of the comics from this one collection will be priced for you at only $2 each, or you can choose a small stack at 12/$20. If the extreme interest we are already seeing from some members of our own staff is any indication, there are some incredible bargains waiting for you in these many boxes. Even our staff members will have to wait, however, until 10 AM on Saturday morning to begin their shopping.

New Store Arrangement

Another reason to stop by Jason St. on Saturday morning is that we will be hosting the first of our annual holiday gift auctions. There will be 100 lots offered this Saturday morning, each containing eight different items. I set a goal that we include in this auction at least 240 different toys and action figures, 160 brand new trade paperbacks and hardbacks, 160 Silver Age and Bronze Age comics, and a wide selection of statues, apparel, and other gift-oriented items. All of these items will be offered at no minimum bid, and without reserves. It is also worth noting that we try to create this type of auction with our younger clients in mind, and thus will include quite a few inexpensive items that they can keep for their own collection, or give as gifts to their friends. Because it is so large, this auction will need to begin very promptly at 11:30 AM.

New Auction Area

My final news note for today is a quick mention of an upcoming Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire benefit performance event, "Babes In Toyland, Gotham City," that has a special superhero theme. While most details about the show are in the accompanying poster, I want you to be aware that the ICRME is a registered 501-C3 charity that has been raising money to give to other registered groups in Denver for 41 years. The organization began as an exclusively GLBTQ group dedicated to putting on drag shows, but has expanded its membership in recent years to include quite a few members from the overall community. All that matters today in the ICRME today is that you be willing to work hard to help raise money for our beneficiary charities, and that you enjoy performing on stage in musical numbers. I have now been a part of the ICRME for four years, and have enjoyed every minute.

All the previous having been said, we will have at least one large table at Sunday evening's "Babes In Toyland, Gotham City" show reserved exclusively for Mile High Comics staff and clients, and will probably be adding a second table. If you would like to attend Sunday evening's show and sit with us, please call Chris Lanham, at our Jason St. Mega-Store (303-477-0042), and he will reserve a spot for you at one of our tables. Our designated charities for the evening are Urban Peak, which helps the homeless (especially homeless teens...), and The Denver Children's Advocacy Center, which provides assistance for children who have been victims of sexual abuse, or who are witnesses in cases involving violent crime. Mile High Comics has already contributed $4,900 to to help the children being treated at the DCAC this year, and we would very much like to be able to help those children even more as Christmas draws near. That having been said, don't be surprised if I add a couple of extra items into Saturday's auction from my personal collection, with the proceeds generated from my collection going directly to help the kids at the DCAC.

Happy Collecting!

P.S. I will be personally performing in the opening and closing numbers of Babes In Toyland, Gotham City, as well as participating in a third number during the middle of the show. I'll be performing as a giant stuffed dinosaur in the opening number, which is a sight you really don't want to miss...
