Local News - Huge Moving Sale At Mile High Comics

Howdy!

If you missed the major announcement that I made in yesterday's e-mail newsletter, I have decided to finally put our 56th Ave. headquarters building on the market. We have owned that 22,000 square foot structure since 1986, and it has been an incredibly comfortable home for us. It's utility has declined for us over the past five years, however, as more and more of our company energy has shifted to our new Jason St. Mega-Store building. With prices for warehouse buildings now soaring throughout the Denver area (due in large part to intense demand for buildings suitable for growing marijuana...), several recent appraisals made it clear to me that it was an ideal time for us to sell our smaller building.

MILE HIGH 56th Ave. Warehouse

So what effect will this have on our local efforts? Well, you can expect that we are going to be consolidating the retail portion of the Jason St. Mega-Store into a much more compact form. With seemingly unlimited room to expand, we previously let the store evolve into a form that we ultimately found unwieldy to operate. That is why when you next visit Jason St. you will see that we are compressing our "Ocean of Comics" into about half of its present space. This will allow us to move our new comics shelving forward into the middle of the store, while freeing up more than enough space in the back of the building for the six million comics that we will be transporting over from the building that we are selling.

A wonderful side benefit to this move is that ALL of the comics, books, and magazines offered in our online website will soon be available for instant purchase in our Jason St. Mega-Store. At the same time, the approximately one million dollars in working capital that we will free up by selling our headquarters will not only dramatically reduce our bank debt, but also allow me the funding that I need to go out on numerous buying trips to the East Coast. I can't wait to once again be able to bring back all sorts of cool older comics for everyone to enjoy!

Before any of the above can transpire however, we first need to sell the building, and to organize this massive move. On the first front, our Realtor just sold a building exactly the same size as ours for our asking price, and had nine other purchasers wanting that other building. That gives me a measure of optimism that we can close a deal on our building relatively soon. What scares me to death, however, is that I will then have to transport over six million comics to Jason St., plus the fixtures to hold them, by March 31st. This move is going to be incredibly time-consuming, and also quite costly. Once our move is completed, however, we will be shaving over $10,000 per month from our operating costs, so it is definitely worth doing.

All of the above having been said, I am going to try to cover most of the costs of our move by offering everyone who shops with us extraordinary discounts on pretty much everything that we own. I began by putting a huge sale on all of our online trade paperback and hardback books this week, with all of our softcovers at 60% off, and all of our hardbacks at 50% off. This portion of our sale has already tripled our book sales, and the word is only just now reaching many people. In addition, I will be announcing that all of our back issues will be half off tomorrow when the 50% off MOVING! Codeword is utilized. All of these crazy online discounts will also be honored in our stores, at least through this weekend. I do, however encourage you to shop early for best selection.

I will close by thanking you for all of the kind support that you have given us. Thanks to kind patronage of the thousands of comics fans in the Denver area we have been able to not only purchase Jason St. And build our wonderful Mega-Store, but also to hold on until real estate values rebounded. Please do enjoy the awesomely great deals that we are offering this week with our sincere thanks for helping us to get to this wonderful place in time.

Happy collecting!
