60% Off All Back Issue Comics and Magazines
Howdy!
A brief newsletter today, as we have three major events
(poker,
auction,
and
drag show)
coming up at
Jason St.
this weekend. I still have a ton of advance work that I need to help with on
each event, so I'll just emphasize that our 60% off COMIC-CON! codeword sale
on all ten million of our
back issue comics
remains in effect for you (at least through this weekend) both
online,
and (excluding blue stickers) at the
Mega-Store.
Online, only new issues, a few variants, and our professionally-graded comics are
exempt from the incredibly generous 60% off. Please do enjoy this great system wide
sale with our sincere thanks for your ongoing support of our family-owned company.
Poker Flyer
In other news,
Denver's Fox news affiliate
was here filming me in my boy clothes yesterday, and will be returning on Sunday afternoon
to film Bettie performing at our
monthly All-Ages show.
These segments will be combined together, and air on June 28th as a part of the worldwide
recognition of the 50th anniversary of the riots and street protests at
New York's historic Stonewall Inn.
Those protests (sparked by a police raid) are almost universally recognized as the beginning
of the American LGBTQ civil rights movement. Visit YouTube to sample an amazing spectrum of
short videos about that historic 1969 event.
Stonewall Inn Flyer
In a remarkable honor, Bettie will be appearing with Queen Mother I of the Americas Nicole
Murray-Ramirez, and other members of the
International Imperial Court Council,
at the Stonewall Inn on June 27th. We will be hosting a very special ceremony inside Stonewall
where we dedicate a Wall of Honor for early LGBTQ activists, including Harvey Milk, Jose' Sarria,
Matthew Shepard, Frank Kamanay, Silvia Rivera, and Marsha P. Johnson, just to name a few. This
dedication is particularly significant to all of us in the Mile High Comics family because we
donated to proceeds of our March poker tournament to help to fund the creation of this wall of honor,
and will be listed as official sponsors for all the visitors to Stonewall to see in the years
to come. Becoming a part of history is cool!
Huge thistle plants
I will close by mentioning that I was cutting a stand of huge thistle plants behind Jason St.
last night, when I spotted a brand new hammer lying in the grass. Upon closer examination, there
was a new crowbar right under it, and a new black foldable lug wrench nearby. The lightbulb went
off in my head when I saw what appeared to be bloodstains on both the hammer, and the crowbar. My
best guess is that the thief who broke into
Jason St.
a couple of weeks ago, who then stole $49,000+
in our scarcest back issues, ditched his tools in those weeds as he made his getaway thinking that
no one would ever find them. Well, I did find them, and they are now in the hands of the Denver PD
forensics lab. Fingers crossed that these new pieces of evidence will help us to catch the guy,
and to get our comics back.
Left behind Tools
Happy collecting!
