Star Wars Wedding Sunday
Earn 60% Off On Back Issues

Howdy!

A bit of a different local newsletter today, as I am going to offer you a fantastic discount in exchange for your support of a Denver-area charitable group to which I belong. Before I make that offer to you, however, I want to quickly mention that this Sunday (which is also Easter...) is the day that we are going to be hosting a STAR WARS-themed wedding at our Jason St. Mega-Store. The bride and groom have asked me to personally invite you to their blessed event, and you are urged to come in STAR WARS regalia, if you can. Our store will be open Noon-5 on Sunday, with the actual wedding ceremony scheduled to begin at 2 PM. See the invitation at the end of this newsletter for more details...

Star Wars X-Wing

As regards the charity, I have been a member of the Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire for the past three years. With approximately 500 members and supporters, the ICRME is a well known GLBTQ organization that puts on charity shows each weekend at various clubs around the city. This past weekend, for example, we raised $2,000+ at one show to fund research into finding a cure for a type of childhood illness that is akin to leukemia, while at a second show we raised $2,500+ to help the Denver Children's Resource Center, which is a safehouse on S. Federal for children who have suffered sexual abuse.

The two shows that I just mentioned were organized (respectively) by Caeri Mancini and Melissa Narwockie Roberts, who are running this year for the two leadership posts of the ICRME. I am personally supporting Caeri and Melissa in their efforts to lead our organization, as I think that they will do a great job in helping the ICRME to raise money for a variety of deserving causes. As a part of that support, I am asking members of our staff to vote for Caeri and Melissa, and I am also offering everyone who shops with us a special reward for participating in this Saturday's ICRME election. My offer is as follows:

Take a few minutes to vote on Saturday in the ICRME election, and you will earn a very special Mile High Comics discount certificate from our election coordinator, JAZMINE JAMES, at the election center at 1077 Race St. This coupon will entitle you to a single purchase of as many back issue comics that they wish to purchase at a full 60% (!) off, and/or as many trade paperbacks or hardbacks at a full 50% off. This coupon is valid for a one-time purchase coupon only, but does not have a limit on the amount of comics and books that you can buy on the day when you use your coupon. Only new comics, a few variants, and our CGC-graded comics need to be excluded from this extremely generous discount offer. Since I halved many of our back issue prices back in February, I have never, ever, offered a 60% discount to anyone...

In addition to providing you with this exceptionally great in-store discount, Mile High Comics is also pledging to make a $25 donation in your name to benefit Rainbow Alley. Rainbow Alley is a shelter for GLBTQ kids that operates out of The Center, on East Colfax. Suicide, and severe depression resulting from bullying, are still disturbingly prevalent among GLBTQ youth, with Rainbow Alley being one of the few resources where young people in the Denver area can seek help. Suffice it to say, your participating in this Saturday's election would be very much appreciated by the Rainbow Alley kids.

Here are specific ICRME election details:

Voting hours: 11-6

Location 1077 Race St., Denver (In the community room of a large apartment building next to Cheeseman Park)

Identification required: Colorado photo ID, showing address north of Castle Rock

Age limit: you must be at least 16

Parking is available on the street, so you are welcome to drive yourself to vote, any time between 11-6. Jazmine will be there all day, with a Mile High Comics sign to help you find her. To make voting especially easy for you, however, we have arranged for a bus to pick up at our Jason St. Mega-Store on this upcoming Saturday morning, at 10:30 AM. The bus will make a quick circuit over to the Cheeseman Park election center, and then return to Jason St. just as quickly as everyone has voted. If necessary, the bus will then make a second run.

After the bus returns we will have free desserts for everyone who voted, including a mind-blowing pineapple/cherry upside down cake made by ICRME Grand Duchess, Norrie Reynolds. Norrie's desserts are so insanely delicious that they have been known to bring tears into the eyes of grown men! Norrie will also be our friendly organizer on the bus, helping to guide everyone to the voting center.

I will close today's newsletter with an invitation for you to meet Caeri and Melissa in person at our Jason St. Mega-Store, tomorrow (Wednesday) evening, from 5-7 PM. We normally close Jason St. at 5 PM, but we will keep the doors open to my private second-floor events area on Wednesday evening, just so that you can stop by and meet the candidates. Caeri should be there right at 5, with Melissa arriving just as soon as she can leave the local charter school where she is a key administrator. Come by and personally meet these two really nice people, and see why I am supporting them. Refreshments will be served!
