Chuck Buys Nine Tons Of Comics!

Howdy!

I am currently in a cab heading for New York City. I just finished an epic 7-day marathon of comics purchasing, during which I was able to obtain over 100,000! great back issues. My buying included six major private collections, and several choice smaller comics deals. I also located over 2,000 toys and action figures for our Jason St. Mega-Store, as well as 500+ comics trade paperbacks and hardbacks. In total, I am shipping 10 huge pallets back to Denver, with a total weight of about 18,000 pounds.

Chuck and Pallets

What makes me happiest about the very positive outcome of this trip is the thought that we will now be able to offer you an even broader selection of great back issue comics. To explain, after our having lowered our prices so dramatically in late February, our online sales have more than tripled. That had me worried that we might actually start running low on many comics. With my having had such great success during this latest buying trip, however, I now have far fewer worries in that regard. We have some incredible comics that are going to soon be added into our New-In-Stock and Premium New-In-Stock links!

Another really nice consideration is that I now have the freedom to keep our ongoing 50% off SWEETHEART codeword sale in effect for you on most of our back issue comics and magazines for at least another week. With all of our base prices having already been lowered so substantially, the half price SWEETHEART sale means that we are practically giving away many back issues. Please do enjoy these great deals on all of our older back issues, with our sincere thanks for your continuing support of Mile High Comics.

Superior Spider-Man #30

My only other bit of news today is an offer off free copy of SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #30. Released just today, this landmark issues features the return of Peter Parker as Spider-Man. This news came as a total surprise to almost all comics retailers, as Marvel declined to let us know in advance that this issue would be so pivotal. Without having that knowledge, most comics retailers ordered barely more copies of SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #30 than a typical Spider-Man issue. Not surprisingly, it has been a huge hit, and is thus selling out nationwide.

The good news is that our new comics buyer, Will Moulton, learned of Peter Parker's surprise return very early in the day yesterday. We were thus able to slide in a last-minute reorder, just before Marvel officially sold out. Will then insisted that we make 50 copies of this special issue available to those of you who shop online. Given that so many retailers are already sold out of this key issue, however, we realized that we had no choice but to request a minimum order level of $100 to qualify for a free copy. Also, because we expect to give away all 50 copies in about a day, there will be a strictly enforced limit of only one copy per client, please. All you need do is to place any minimum $100 order with us, and the request your free copy of SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #30 in the "notes" section of our online order form. It will then be included with your order, at absolutely no charge. Supplies are limited...

Amazing Spider-Man
#1 Mile High

In other news, I want you to be aware that we are now down to just over 30 days until our exclusive Mile High Comics variant edition of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1 releases. This issue features the full return of Peter Parker to the Spider-Man stories, which is proving to be intensely popular. Our exclusive variant will have a tiny print run as compared to the regular issue, and a substantial percentage are already committed to pre-orders. If you have not already ordered, and would like a copy of our exclusive variant, you can only obtain them through us. Write to Greg or Mario in our new comics department at nice@milehighcomics.com, and they can help you to receive your copy on the day it releases, for $14.95 per copy (limit five, please...). Our exclusive variant is releasing on Free Comic Book Day, at which time the price will need to rise to $24.95 per copy. 'Nuff said.

Well, that's it for today. After checking into our hotel, I will head to LaGuardia Airport to pick up two other members of the Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire, a Denver GLBTQ organization of which I am a member. We are all in New York this weekend to attend Night of a Thousand Gowns, an annual benefit event that raises nearly a million dollars for charity. This year our beneficiary is God's Love We Deliver, a group that brings home cooked meals to the terminally ill. I'll have photos for you in Monday's newsletter.

Happy Collecting!
