Mile High Comics Is Hiring + Star Wars News

Howdy!

It seems like forever since I have written a newsletter created specifically for those of you who shop at our Mile High Comics retail locations. I apologize for this omission, but I have been overwhelmed of late with directing the implementation all of the improvements that we have been making at our Jason St. Mega-Store. To cite just one case in point, we have recently gathered together over 100,000 great back issue comics from our storage area in the rear of the building, and have been integrating those 100,000 back issues in our existing "Ocean of Comics." The net result has been the largest single alpha-numeric array of back issue comics ever created, containing over 400,000 (!) individual volumes.

While enhancing the number of comics in our "Ocean" has been a top priority, I have also guided our staff in their efforts to expand our already vast inventory of out-of-print trade paperback books, hardbacks, and graphic novels. Over just the past 45 days we have added more than 6,000 more books, and constructed book shelving capable of storing yet another 75,000 volumes. A vast shipment of 1,900 Star Wars book titles just arrived, with even larger book shipments on order. Simply put, our goal is to create in Jason St. the single best resource in the world for collectors of out-of-print books related to comics and popular culture. With well over 250,000 out-of-print books already available in Jason St., I think we are well on our way to meeting that goal...

Princeless: Pirate Princess #1 Mile High

While enhancing our backlist is always a priority for us, we have most certainly not been neglecting new comics. To illustrate what I mean, we have signed commitments for publishing exclusive Mile High Comics variant editions of STAR WARS (2015) #1-#6 and STAR WARS: PRINCESS LEIA #1-#5. All told, just publishing these 11 Star Wars variants will cost us over $100,000.00! When you add in our exclusive PRINCELESS #1 (which just arrived), and several other planned variant launches, we are committing over a quarter of a million dollars this year to publishing exclusive Mile High Comics editions.

Star Wars #1 - #6 Mile High Variants

While variant editions may not be your cup of tea, please understand that a great many fans do like them very much, and they have become an exceptionally dynamic subset of the overall comics collecting world. The fact that we very tightly control the distribution of our Mile High Comics variants, and never (ever) diminish their prices, has made our limited editions particularly popular with fans around the world. We do make certain, however, that our Denver fans get a chance to reserve advance copies of all of our variants. That having been said, I strongly urge you to sign up right away any time that you see one of our upcoming variants being offered over the next few weeks. We have some incredibly good variant projects that will be offered in the very near future...

I will close today's newsletter with a couple of quick points. First, I am trying to get another fun no-minimum-bid auction organized for at our Jason St. Mega-Store, but keep running into timing obstacles. If I can find a date that will work for everyone, I will announce a combined Mile High Comics and Rainbow Alley benefit auction in an upcoming newsletter. Second, we are still recruiting for new team members to join our Mile High Comics staff. We are looking for both full time help, and also for folks who would like to just drop in during spare moments to help sort comics for $10/hour in trade credit. If you are interested in joining our team, please contact Chris Lanham at our Jason St. Mega-Store.

My last item for today is a plug for the ONE FORCE LED LIGHT SABER CLUB, a local school for aspiring Jedi Knights. Our very good friend, Aaron Reilly, is a teacher of Japanese sword techniques, and has recently begun accepting students who wish to learn how perform light saber demonstrations. With the new Star Wars movie releasing in December, Aaron is certain that anyone who learns how to put on light saber swordfighting exhibitions, will be in high demand at public events. Members of Aaron's graduating class will be performing all night at our upcoming Denver Comic-Con Opening Night Party, so this could be a great way for you to show everyone your Jedi skills. You can contact Aaron via e-mail at: aaronr@kusadojo.net or on Facebook at facebook.com/OneForceLEDSaberClub. Classes are taught Wednesday evenings 6:30-8:30 in the upstairs events room at our Jason St. Mega-Store.

Happy Collecting!
