Life here at Mile High Comics is humming along, with a slew of new orders arriving over the past 36 hours from our first-ever 60% off codeword sale. Blessedly, we were completely caught up with our order shipping when the HOLIDAY codeword orders started arriving, so we have fallen only slightly behind in our shipping. As a result, even with the normal crush of holiday mailings, I think that many of your who have ordered from us over the past couple of days are going to see your packages arriving more quickly than would be the norm at this time of year. I have no way of knowing if your packages sent for USA delivery will arrive before Christmas, but if they don't, they should be there shortly thereafter. As an aside, for those of you seeking last minute gifts, we do offer express shipping. With the shipping companies still hammering us with fuel surcharges, however, express shipping rates are unfortunately still quite high. In other news, our New-In-Stock listings for this week are quite a bit different from what we have been posting over the past year. While we have long concentrated on stocking up our key Marvel and DC titles, we have now shifted about half of our ongoing inventory efforts toward grading and scanning unusual out-of-print magazines and trade paperbacks. This change came about for a simple reason: we're out of filing room in our Marvel and DC files! I had optimistically thought that after we moved our immense Independent comics picking files over to our Fox St. warehouse in late Summer, that we would gain more than enough room in our main warehouse on 56th Ave. to file away all of the Marvel and DC comics that I had purchased this year. Hah! It only took us 90 days of grading and bagging Marvels and DCs to completely use up all that new space... With no other options available to us to gain more filing space for our remaining 400,000 unsorted Marvel and DC comics, I'm now having to work on clearing out a large quantity of shelving in the back of 56th Ave. that has long been reserved for the more unusual items that I've picked up in my multitudinous purchases. Those shelves contain at least 1,000 magazine boxes filled with one-of-a-kind goodies representing every genre of collecting that you can imagine, from skateboarding magazines, to action figures, to signed and numbered comics hardback limited editions. I purchased the 56th Ave. building in 1985, and as crazy as it may sound, there are still boxes in the back that we never unpacked from that move from our old warehouse! Well, I really need that shelf space now, so all of those lost treasures are now being created as new inventory records, and are steadily being entered into our online inventory. If you collect any sort of unusual and hard-to-find comics, trade paperbacks, hardbacks, and/or magazines, the next few weeks are going to be a real joy for you! Just keep a sharp eye on our daily New-In-Stock listings (they are posted each day Monday-Saturday at about noon, Colorado time), with a special emphasis on scrolling through the files that say "All Independents" and "Trade Paperbacks." This is going to be a lot of fun for everyone! My final topic for today is to remind everyone that we have a huge number of back issue comics listed on our website right now that are priced at $5, or less. While we've been seeing a great many 60% off HOLIDAY codeword orders coming in, I've been struck by how many of them have been focused on our Golden Age, Silver Age, and Bronze Age comics, as well as our CGC graded comics. While all of those more costly genres are certainly great bargains when the 60% off HOLIDAY codeword is utilized, the 60% off discount also does amazing things for decreasing the price to you on all of the comics that we currently have that are steeply discounted. A $5 comic, for example is only $2 when the HOLIDAY codeword is used. A comic priced at 75 cents, is only 30 cents!
