Golden Age, Silver Age, Original Art Howdy! After 1300 miles of driving from Colorado, I finally made it this afternoon to Pat Dulay’s wonderful Rainbow/Spectrum Comics, in Boardman (Youngstown), Ohio. I always stop to visit Pat when I am on my way to the East Coast, as he is a font of knowledge about old comics and the entire comic book industry, and also comes up with some of the coolest collectibles that I have ever seen. Chuck and Pat For today’s visit, Pat had waiting for me over 300 lower grade Golden Age and Silver Age comics, as well as several pieces of very cool original comic book art. The best issue that I purchased from him today was a nice 4.0 Strange Tales #110, which features the first-ever appearance of Doctor Strange. This issue had a very low print run, so it is much harder to find than most Marvel comics published during this time period. As a direct result, we have not had even a single copy in stock for the past several years. Score! 4.0 Strange Tales #110 What always really makes me even more happy about stopping at Pat’s store today, however, is that he came up with an amazing spectrum of wonderful comics for me from the late 1940s and the early 1950s. This is a time period in comics publishing history which I particularly like, as there was such a truly wonderful diversity of titles and genres. I could not take the time to photograph all of those older issues that I just acquired from Pat, but I believe that the following images provide you with a reasonable sampling. I am very curious about their history as unpublished DC/MARVEL art is quite rare. Whatever the case may be, they are amazing historic pages. Daredevil/Batman Original Pages Well, that’s it for today.
