Free Comic Book Day This Saturday Howdy! Happy May Day! I am in an excellent mood this morning, as our warm weather has finally arrived here in Colorado. In case you are unaware, this has been a particularly long and cold fall/winter season here along the Front Range, with innumerable small snowfall episodes, and a steady and biting cold hanging on forever. Never enough snow in one event to actually shut things down, but the constancy of ice/snow/cold was definitely wearing on the nerves. It became a running joke at our Mega-Store that it was going to snow every Wednesday, which it frequently did. This past weekend was a joy, however, with temperatures in the 70's, and beautiful sunshine. Yay! The sunset from the back patio at the farm. I am also in a good humor because my own health is improving considerably, as is my wife, Nanette's. I worked for ten hours on my beloved farm yesterday gathering together and burning a vast quantity of accumulated branches in our huge backyard fire pit. Even after all of that very strenuous effort, I feel just fine this morning. To be clear, however, while getting my physical stamina back is great, it is only a first step in my recovery from my fall of early March. Truth be told, I am still struggling a bit with post-concussive cognitive issues and blurred vision, so I am far from being entirely healed. Nonetheless, I feel really good, so progress is definitely being made. As regards my beloved wife, Nanette, I am still staying at home to help her with small tasks, as there are innumerable day-to-day activities that still elude her abilities. Having both a broken wrist and a broken kneecap on her right side is definitely a bother. The good news is that she is becoming increasingly ambulatory, and the nice weather is also helping her to improve her mood (all facts considered). She is scheduled to have a hard cast put on her wrist tomorrow, so we'll see what her doctor has to say about her healing progress. The giant hand built firepit at farm. Several of the dealers in the online forum that I read stated that a $37 slabbing fee (plus freight each way) on "Moderns" would require a minimum $150 retail price to make slabbing economically worthwhile.
