Howdy! Here at Mile High Comics the excitement is starting to build for our Free Comic Book Day 2023 celebration. I can remember not so long ago when May 6th seemed forever distant, but now it is a mere ten days away! The shipping boxes filled with this year's 45 special edition FCBD variants have now all arrived, and the 100 complete sets that we will be offering are being constructed as we speak. In no time at all the big (BIG!) day will arrive, and our Jason St. Mega-Store will be overwhelmed with thousands of fans seeking their favorites from this year's offerings. Woo hoo!
Aside from the sheer fun of having so many happy people visit us on FCBD, we love its arrival because it marks the beginning of our busiest 90 days of the year. We buy comics and pop culture toys with mad abandon all winter long specifically in anticipation of the flood of out-of-state visitors who stop by our Mega-Store during May, June, and July. We have learned from past experience that these long-distance visitors come to us with an expectation that we will have absolutely everything in stock, and we strive to do our very best to satisfy that expectation.
That having been said, our having "everything" ever created in the history of comics publishing and pop culture marketing is (obviously) patently impossible. But that doesn't stop us from trying. In point of fact, our fall, winter, and spring buying is always premised upon increasing the breadth and diversity of our offerings. Above all else, we seek to have more inventory available and on display at the end of each day, as compared to what we had we we opened our Mega-Store on that same morning. For the most part, we succeed, which is precisely why our Mega-Store is so jam-packed with great collectibles right now.
In any event, today marks the beginning of your opportunity to reserve in advance copies of all of this year's FCBD variants. Our offer is exactly the same as last year: order any net $10 in back issues, magazines, and/or graphic novels from our website over the next week (net of all discounts), and you can request one FCBD variant be included with your order at no charge. For each additional $10 increment you can request one more FCBD variant. (Please include your list of the FCBD variants in the note section of your order.) If you want to request a complete set, a $400 purchase (net of all discounts) qualifies you for a free set. Please do bear in mind, however, that all orders containing single FCBD issues (and also FCBD sets) will need to be held for shipping until Monday, May 8th.
As regards purchasing sets of all FCBD issues, that will be a bit more problematic this year, as we only have 100 sets available. They can be ordered now for $125, but will also not be shipped until May 8th. If you are interested, we do highly recommend reserving your FCBD set ASAP, as we are truly doubtful that our supplies will last very long. 'Nuff said.
Finally, I want to quickly mention that the advent of our busiest season marks the end of our 60% off NEWYEAR! wintertime codeword sale. Our summertime 50% of BARGAINS! codeword will go into effect on this upcoming Wednesday (May 3rd). As with all our codeword sales, BARGAINS! will apply to all ten million-plus of our in-stock back issue comics and magazines, including most of our new arrivals. Only new issues, a few variants and restored comics, and our professionally-graded items are exempt. Enjoy! Happy collecting!
