Interview With Chuck In The Comics Journal Howdy! Given that you have been reading my newsletters for a while, you probably think that you know me fairly well. I have to admit, however, that I censor my thrice-weekly newsletter prose of my most overtly political and/or objectionable material, primarily in an effort to respect the mountain of hard work and effort that my beloved wife, Nanette, and the rest of our team contribute while helping Mile High Comics to succeed. Simply put, bridges of understanding between people are incredibly easy to burn, and dreadfully hard to rebuild, so it is oftentimes best to keep one's opinions private, even during the most passionate of moments. Chuck with our Back Issue Racks That having been said, I allowed myself to be much more forthright and revealing during a phone interview with The Comics Journal magazine that was conducted a month ago, shortly after the fall that precipitated my current health difficulties. My frankness and sudden unfettering of my opinions was prompted primarily by the fact that I am aware that a great many of The Comic Journal's readers are completely unfamiliar with the "real" me, but oftentimes still hold opinions about me, my personal motivations, and the history of Mile High Comics that are solely based upon reading (or hearing) third-party opinions. For just this once I wanted those disconnected comics fans to hear the unvarnished truth, directly from me. So do I expect to win over some hearts and minds? Perhaps a few. One thing I have learned the hard way, however, is that haters are gonna hate, regardless of any contravening facts and/or logic. My being forthright in this interview might in some small measure help to clear the air of some of the most egregious rumors (and slanders) that circulate about me, but I also expect that some of those who are on the opposite side of America's current political schism are going to be inflamed against me even further. Truthfully, it saddens me that so many people in America are so inextricably embroiled in their own personal religious dogmas (and the resulting reactionary political spewing) that messages of love and acceptance are totally ignored. As sad as that might be, I cannot but speak to my own truth, and then let the chips fall where they may. Here is a link to the transcript of my interview.
