Local News - Tons of Mega-Store Pictures + Chuck's Birthday

Howdy!

My name is Chuck Rozanski, and as I rapidly approach my 70th birthday, I have come to realize that I am one of the last surviving links to a vibrant Denver that is now, sadly, long-since dead. When I first began selling comic books and pop culture toys (as a young teen) in 1970 at the monthly Colorado Springs Antiques Fair, there existed an incredibly exciting world of newsstands, used bookstores, and antiques emporiums throughout Colorado.

If you were around back then, I'm sure that you can remember with great fondness occasionally prowling through the multitude of hole-in-the-wall stores that proliferated in lower downtown Denver, in "Antiques Row" on South Broadway, on the west side of Colorado Springs (and also in Manitou Springs), and even in the old downtowns of Boulder, Ft. Collins, and Pueblo. Colorado back in the 1970's was truly a collector's paradise!

Fast-forward 55 years, and for the most part, only tattered remnants remain. Gone are the iconic Jerry's News, Packrat Antiques, Colorado Comics, Atomic Collectibles, The Chinook Bookstore, The Stage House Antiques, and innumerable other beloved Colorado retailers who offered us all a shopping experience that was not at all boring and/or mundane. Replacing them today are the stultifying homogenization of endless waves of national chain stores, and the soulless online avarice of eBay, neither of which are anywhere close to my idea of heaven.

In a nutshell, that is precisely why I (seemingly) went totally insane 14 years ago, and invested all of my remaining life's savings into purchasing a gigantic 65,000 square foot barn of a warehouse at 4600 Jason St. Located very close to where I-25 and I-70 meet, this immense old concrete building had been vacant for three years, but I loved it's central location (right in the heart of Denver), and truly believed that I could create within it's cavernous confines the most incredibly beautiful comics and pop culture collector store that has existed in all of history.

After nearly 14 years of unbelievably strenuous effort on my part (amplified by our incredible team of Mile High Comics professionals...), I can now share with you photos of the pinnacle of my 55-year comic books and pop culture retailing career. Within this one gigantic structure I have created a truly beautiful and immersive environment, one which not only offers an incredible array of fun stuff for you to buy, but which also acts as a literal time machine, transporting you backwards in time to a more innocent age when all still seemed possible, and hope sprang eternal.

That idyllic imagery may seem a foolish (and somewhat pretentious) claim to be making about the impact of visiting what is essentially just a gigantic comic books and toys store, but the truth of the matter is that it is the mentally comforting aspect of simply spending time lost in the beauty and wonderments of our truly unique emporium that is most frequently commented upon by our clients. Simply put, the rest of the world may be going to hell-in-a-hand basket, but when you visit our Mile High Comics Mega-Store you (and your entire family) can step away from all of the pain and sadness of our present-day world for just a little while, and be gently reminded that life can also still be joyful, and filled with goodness. In and of itself, that is a truly great reason why you should try to find the time to visit us today.

Pam, Will, and Chuck

Our Mile High Comics Jason St. Mega-Store is open 7 days a week at 4600 Jason St., just two blocks south (and then two blocks east) of the I-70/Pecos St. exit. We are open Monday-Friday 9-6, Saturdays 10-6, and Sundays 11-5. Our two incredibly nice buyers, Will Moulton and Pam Brandle, are available to purchase collections Monday-Friday 9-5. We love children (of all ages!) so do bring your entire family along when you come to visit. In celebration of my impending 70th birthday (March 11th), we have a massive 70% off sale in effect right now on our ten million+ back issue comic books, including some of our rarest Golden Age and Silver Age rarities. We hope to see you soon!

Happy collecting!
