Spaceship Away... started out as a way to get a newly created Dan Dare strip story (by Keith Watson & Don Harley) - presented in the old Eagle-style of the 1950's - in print. However, it didn't stop there! Soon other new Dan Dare stories and features debuted, including floorplans, cut-away drawings, development notes, real science connections, custom-built models, foreign DD strips, readers' chat-back and background write-ups. The magazine has grown from 24 to 40 pages, and is now moving sideways into other Sci-Fi, like Charles Chilton's Journey into Space, and Sydney Jordan's Hal Starr. Each issue features five main stories and four light-hearted strips.
