Mamoru Oshii's anime masterpiece, The Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, is serialized fumetti-style, utilizing actual cels presented in sequential form. Set in 2032, Innocence is set several years after the original Ghost in the Shell, and follows the Bateau (from GitS), a special agent for Security Police Section 9. When several members of the city's political and financial elite are murdered - apparently killed by their own robotic servants - Bateau (himself a human brain with a synthetic body) and his new partner, Togusa (a synthetic brain in a human body), are called in by Department Chief Aramaki to investigate.
