Dr. Stepping, the man in charge of overseeing Myles' welfare, is questioned before the executive board about the incident involving a patient accidentally taking Myles' medication. The safety of the drug, "Cloud Nine" is called into question and is deemed unsafe to be used anymore. This is a problem for Myles because the withdrawal from the drug sends him into a hallucinogenic fit that threatens to break Myles' already waning sanity. On the continued search for Frankie, Bill and Cricket face their toughest opponent, a ten-foot-tall, armored, cyborg alligator that gives them a good chase through the sewers and into uncharted territory.
