TOM STRONG (1999) #16 - Plot Synopsis

Written by Alan Moore; Art and Cover by Chris Sprouse and Karl Story
The West was never this wild. It's High Noon on Laundry Street as Coleman Grey rides into town (Earth that is) with some mighty bad news. "Some Call Him the Space Cowboy," but Tom Strong calls him the bearer of ill tidings. After a brief visit on Venus and the Modular Man, the Weird Rider has moseyed on over to Millennium City. The police and the family Strong don't take too kindly to his abrupt disruption of their daily lives and before, too long, there's a standoff. But the rider's message can't wait. A "range war," as Grey calls it, is on its way.

By way of explaining what happened to the entire town of the Devil's Footstool (which disappeared -- lock, stock and barrel -- into a giant spacecraft in the 1870s), Grey gets around to explaining how he gained a third eye, a robot horse and sixguns that fire plasma bolts. He's been on the run from his alien captors for more than 150 years. And now, those aliens, a massive race of giant robotic ants, is fixing to make Earth its new hive and it's time to circle the wagons! Alan Moore winds this far-fetched tale with the help of Chris Sprouse, master of the drawing irons.
