New Avengers (2004) #3
"Breakout" Part Three is written by Brian Michael Bendis and drawn by David Finch, Danny Miki, Allen Martinez and Victor Diazaba. Electro succeeded in releasing nearly 40 criminals from the Slab, a high-tech, high-security prison facility on an island outside of Manhattan. While the motivation of the electricifying villain remains unknown, Captain America and Iron Man know they have to get to work to round up the convicts; some of the world's most dangerous super-villains. Cap and Iron Man succeeded in keeping half of the Slab's inhabitants in place with the help of an impromptu gathering of heroes that included Spider-Man, Daredevil, Luke (Power Man) Cage, Spider-Woman and the Sentry. Now the Star-Spangled Avenger thinks its time for that group to make it formal and to re-form the Avengers.
While Iron Man has his doubts, Cap sets about to recruit Peter (Spider-Man) Parker who is just getting out of the hospital after getting his arm broken in the jailbreak. Spidey, who is not much of a team player, nonetheless agrees to give it a try. Luke Cage, who was able to gain sweet revenge on the nefarious Purple Man during the escape, also signs on. Daredevil, the Man Without Fear, is not so easily convinced, but Jessica (Spider-Woman) Drew takes Cap up on his offer. However, as this new group of Avengers assembles, we learn that Spider-Woman has a secret agenda she's carrying out for some shadowy group. Could it be her former bosses at Hydra? And, where on Earth is the mysterious Sentry?
