MARVEL TEAM-UP (1972) (#1-150) (MARVEL) #110 - Plot Synopsis
Marvel Team-Up (1972) #110
Starring Spider-Man and Iron Man. "Magma Force!" is written by Herb Trimpe and David Michelinie with art by Trimpe and Mike Esposito. Manhattan is built on bedrock. The island is as steady as any geological formation on Earth. So why have a series of earthquakes knocked the Big Apple around like a beach-ball for the past several weeks? That's the question Spider-Man asks himself as J. Jonah Jameson sends Peter Parker out on assignment. At Stark Enterprises, the dashing industrialist Tony Stark unveils a machine for tracking the source of the quakes and Parker takes photos for the Daily Bugle. But even during the press conference, another tremor hits!
Donning their colorful costumes quickly, Spider-Man and Iron Man first save the Stark employees and reporters immediately in danger and then hop into Tony Stark's latest invention an experimental Turbo-Bore. Within seconds, the Wall-crawler and the Golden Avenger are burrowing a tunnel down into the Earth on the trail of whatever has been causing the tremors. What they find is a powerful madman named Magma, who plans to hold Manhattan hostage for $100 million. Can Spider-Man and Iron Man stop Magma's destructive extortion in time save the lives of millions of New Yorkers?
