JLA (1996) #98 - Plot Synopsis

JLA (1996) #98
Guest-starring the new Doom Patrol. "Convergence - The Tenth Circle Part Five" is written by Chris Claremont with art by John Byrne and Jerry Ordway. The Tenth Circle, an ancient order of vampires led by the malicious Crucifer, has taken over a small town in Saskatchewan delivering its hapless residence over to un-life. With Superman entranced by the vampire-lord and Wonder Woman rehabilitating on Paradise Island after being skewered by the mind-controlled Man of Steel, the remainder of the Justice League are at loose ends trying to uncover the plans of their enemy.

Crucifer seems to have made things easy for the JLA to find him but the keen detective skills of the Batman realize a trap has been set. Heading off in a different direction, the Dark Knight leads the team to Key Mordaz, Fla. to seek out the mysterious, new Doom Patrol. The quartet of misfits has been fighting Crucifer in their own way and have won the trust of one of Crucifer's meta-human teen confederates; the remarkable young empath named Nudge. With Nudge comes the four-armed brute named Grunt and the mysterious Vortex; all now opposed to Crucifer's plans. And the size-changing Rita Farr delves into a sub-dimensional space where the Atom seems to have found a clue to defeating Crucifer.
