CONAN (1970) (#1-275) (CONAN THE BARBARIAN) (MARVEL) #5 - Plot Synopsis

Conan (1970) #5
"Zukala's Daughter" is written by Roy Thomas and drawn by Barry Smith and Frank Giacoia. Story inspired by the poem "Zukala's Hour" by Robert E. Howard, creator of Conan. Our black-maned hero is in Zamoria on his way to Shadizar the Wicked when he sees the local villagers beset by a tiger that forms out of thin air. This beast is upon them because they have failed to pay tribute to the wizard Zukala, one local explains, that they all face destruction until they pay. Strangely, the tiger does not kill Conan although it has him under her fangs.

The tigress vanishes and, once out of sight, turns into a beautiful woman. Meanwhile, Conan is hired by the local merchants to rid them of their mystical tormentor once and for all and he agrees, for the right price. But in Zukala's castle, the young Cimmerian encounters a hell-spawned demon summoned from a fire, a masked wizard seemingly unhurt by mortal weapons and the tigress who is also a woman, who has fallen in love with him!
