BRAVE AND THE BOLD (1955) #98 - Plot Synopsis

Brave and the Bold (1955) #98
Starring the Batman and the Phantom Stranger. "Mansion of the Misbegotten" is written by Bob Haney and drawn by Jim Aparo. In a plotline inspired by equal elements of Rosemary's Baby, the Omen and the Exorcist, writer Haney weaves a story of messengers from beyond the grave, satanic ritual and murder mystery. When a good friend of the Batman dies, he leaves the care and protection of his young widow and son to the Dark Knight, who is the boy's godfather. But the widow immediately begins to see ghastly shapes forming at the top of the stairs. And upon investigation, Batman realizes that the young woman and her son are Satanists, hell-bent on bringing their Dark Lord to Earth to conquer. Can the Batman and the Phantom Stranger foil their horrific plot?

Then, the Phantom Stranger saves a young ing‚nue from "The Killer Shadow!" a John Broome-written story from the fabulous 1950s drawn by Carmine Infantino and Sy Barry. And finally, the Challengers of the Unknown have to overcome their internal squabbling before they can overcome the menace of two Volcano Men or else "One Challenger Must Die!" (story by France Herron and art by Bob Brown).
