BATMAN (1940) (#0-713) (DC) #256 - Plot Synopsis

Batman #256
Another 100-Page Super-Spectacular chock-full of great Batman stories. The Dark Knight's trophy room contains memorabilia from years of crime-fighting and here's a compilation of the best stories of how Batman got those trophies. First off, however, is "Catwoman's Circus Caper," a new tale by Denny O'Neil (writer) and Irv Novick (artist). Robin joins a local circus when of its high-wire aerialists is murdered much like his parents. When his first performance threatens to become his last, the Batman enters the scene. Is it all the work of the lethal but lovely Catwoman, or someone much more homicidal working in the shadows?

Next, "Dinosaur Island" finds the Dynamic Duo facing creatures from Earth's distant past ala Jurassic Park. "The Penny Plunderers" explains how Batman got the huge Lincoln penny he has in the Batcave. "Brothers in Crime" recounts a fateful bulletproof vest that cost peoples' lives rather than saving them. "The 1,001 Trophies of Batman" finds the villainous Dr. Doom (not the Fantastic Four foe) using the Batcave's trophies for evil. And finally, "The Secret of Batman's Island" explores what happens when crooks kidnap Batman's biggest fan. Also, special features include "If Bruce Wayne Had Not Become Batman," a Bat-Puzzle and a look at Catwoman through the years.
