WEIRD MYSTERY TALES (1972) #3 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Weird Mystery Tales #3
In the early 1970s after his move to DC from Marvel, comics legend Jack Kirby came to his new employers with an idea for a series of magazine-size, four-color comics. He drew the first two issues of In the Days of the Mob (true stories of gangsters from the Roaring Twenties) and Spirit World (an anthology of stories about supernatural occurrences). Strangely, DC decided to publish the magazines in black and white under a new made-up company called "Hampshire Distributors" and then cut way back on distribution. As a result both magazines were cancelled after their first issues.

One story that didn't make it into Spirit World #2 was "The Burners!," bizarre stories of spontaneous combustion as narrated by the mysterious occultist called Maas. Ordinary people in ordinary settings suddenly burst into flame and are utterly consumed. But where does this preternatural fire come from? And who might be next? Then, an old gypsy fortune teller foretells the death of a violent bank-robber in "I Know Your Future!" (written and drawn by Howard Purcell and inked by Jack Abel). Finally, a magic staff saves the lives of valiant knights in the Medieval adventure "The Wizard's Gift!"
