ULTIMATES 2 (2004) #6 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Ultimates 2 (2004) #6
1st appearance of the Ultimate Defenders, Ultimate Ant-Man. "The Defenders" is written by Mark Millar and drawn by Bryan Hitch and Paul Neary. Hank (Giant Man) Pym has hit rock-bottom. After being thrown off the Ultimates by Captain America for beating his wife Janet, a.k.a. The Wasp, Pym has lost his S.H.I.E.L.D. funding for his experimental androids Ultron and Vision. S.H.I.E.L.D. has also replaced him with an entire squad of Giant-Men who are capable of doing everything he did. And to add insult to injury, the Wasp is now having an affair with Captain America. In desperation, Pym joins a fledgling group of would-be heroes who call themselves the Defenders.

This super-hero group is a far cry from the Ultimates, however. Nighthawk has media connections and an elaborate costume but no real powers or skill. Valkyrie is a beautiful, sexy 19-year-old who can benchpress 350 pounds but who has yet to master kung fu. Power Man, the Hellcat and Son of Satan have style but no special abilities. And the Black Knight can never seem to get through traffic in time to do anyone any good. And so when the team's first foray into crime-fighting goes horribly wrong, only Giant-Man can save them; and even that heroism turns into a huge public embarrassment. Plus, there's a traitor among the Ultimates who has succeeded in dragging the team apart. Can you guess who it is?
