ULTIMATE NIGHTMARE (2004) #2 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Ultimate Nightmare (2004) #2
Written by Warren Ellis with art by Trevor Hairsine, Nelson DeCastro and Simon Coleby. A psychic broadcast of an alien world dying has permeated every television broadcast and psychically attuned mind across the globe. The source of the strange signal is Tunguska, a remote, forbidden area in Russia where ages ago a mysterious explosion leveled everything in a 100-mile radius. Professor X responds by assembling a team of his students, the X-Men, including Jean Grey, Colossus and Wolverine. Nick Fury responds by assembling S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Ultimates including Captain America, the Black Widow and new recruit, Sam Wilson, a.k.a. the Falcon. As a former military black ops officer, Sam knows his way around a global crisis and with his amazing flying wing-pack and top physical shape, he's a handy asset to have around in a fight. He and Cap exhibit immediate mutual respect.

Unaware of the others' activities, both teams head for Tunguska where the sophisticated instruments aboard the Blackbird and the S.H.I.E.L.D. Highspeed Helicruiser detect a vast underground complex powered by nuclear cells under the area where the signal originated. But who built this fortress? The Soviets? Perhaps not, as the Black Widow, a former Russian spy, cannot relay any official information about its existence. The X-Men worry whether the Russians have perhaps captured and are experimenting on a mutant of vast mental prowess. On far opposite sides of the mysterious, underground lair, the teams disembark and enter in their own unique ways. Getting in seems deceptively simple. Will getting out be as easy? Not on your life, bub.
