ULTIMATE NIGHTMARE (2004) #1 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Ultimate Nightmare (2004) #1
Written by Warren Ellis with art by Trevor Hairsine and Simon Coleby. The X-Men and the Ultimates must join forces to combat an unearthly menace that threatens the Earth itself. Our story begins in 1904 in the Tungus River Valley section of Tunguska in what would become the U.S.S.R. A massive meteorite slams with the force of an atomic bomb into the dark forests of this remote region, leaving a massive crater. Over the years, legends grow up about the point of impact and in 1927, a Soviet expedition enters the region to investigate reports of natives becoming sick once entering the zone. The members of the group are never heard from again. Switch to modern times, and on radios and televisions across the globe a series of disturbing pictures and sounds of an alien world being obliterated take over the airwaves.

And in the minds of all humankind, a warning reverberates. "You are already dead. It comes and you are all dead. We are all dead. Listen. There is only death for you." The horrific message sets off a wave of chaos and suicide across the globe. At the Xavier Institute, Professor X and Jean Grey share the same dream of an alien warning and Charles Xavier uses Cerebro to pinpoint its source: a powerful and scared young telepath located in Tunguska. Jean, Colossus and Wolverine move in to investigate. At the same time at the Triskelion, headquarters of the Ultimates, Col. Nick Fury calls in Captain America and the Black Widow. Both teams head out for the source of the worldwide nightmare and into the stark unknown.
