THOR (1998) (#1-85) (MARVEL) #50 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Thor (1998) #50
Fiftieth double-sized issue. "By Fire Born -- Part V of V" is written by Dan Jurgens and drawn by Tom Raney and Scott Hanna. Asgard, as the Norsemen's idea of Heaven, is filed with warriors and their maidens who never tire of battle and follow their leader's word without question. But in reality, the Realm Eternal's residents have lost the All-Father. Odin was slain in battle with the Fire-Demon Surtur and Thor, the Thunder God, has assumed the crown. And when Thor leads Asgard's finest in bloody battle against the Frost Giants and then leaves the battlefield, their loyalty to their liege falters.

On Midgard, Thor has slain the Slayer of the Gods, Desak, using the Bloodaxe of Skurge, the Executioner. Amora, the Enchantress, is now at side at all times. And the confidence of the people of Earth, the warriors of Asgard and of the Designate is at risk. And in a backup story, "Forever Divided" written by Jurgens and drawn by Deon Nuckols and Hanna, the women of Asgard lead a revolt against the liege they claim cares nothing for their realm. Their foment forces Thor's hand and in order to keep an eye on both of the worlds he loves, Thor moves Asgard into the sky above New York City. Finally, in "Children of the Gods" (written by contest winner Jose Armenta and drawn by Joe Bennet and Jack Jadson), the young Thor learns a key lesson about ruling over the mortals who worship him.
