Plot Synopsis: Thor (1962) #97
"The Lava Man" Written by Stan Lee. Cover and interior art by Jack Kirby. Inks by Don Heck. Sometimes the life of a super-hero outstrips all other considerations, even love. Dr. Don Blake has fallen madly in love with his nurse, the lovely Jane Foster. But when Thor asks for the blessing of his father Odin, the King of the Norse Gods is outraged at his insolence for wanting to marry a mortal.

Heartbroken, Blake weighs the consequences of disobeying his father but before he can mope too long, Thor's evil half-brother Loki unleashes a new menace on the world to keep him busy. The Lava Man returns and threatens to set New York City ablaze unless our hero can stop him! Also, don't miss "The Perfect Defense!" (written by Lee and Larry Lieber, drawn by George Bell) and "Tales of Asgard!" (written by Lee, drawn by Kirby and Bell).
