THOR (1962) (#83-125 JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY, 126-502) #122 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Thor (1962) #122
"Where Mortals Fear to Tread!" is written by Stan Lee with art by Jack Kirby and Vince Colletta. Consider the menace of Crusher Creel, the Absorbing Man. Created by Loki's sorcery to bedevil Thor while he, the God of Mischief, schemes to steal the throne of Asgard, the Absorbing Man is a uniquely dangerous foe. He is capable of absorbing the strength and power of whatever he touches, matching his opponent perfectly. How can the God of Thunder hope to defeat such a foe who even now menaces mankind in the streets of New York City?

Using all of his strength and skill, Thor has kept the Absorbing Man at bay but the villain eventually gets the upper hand. Just as Thor is mounting his comeback, Loki calls his servant to his side in Asgard using the science and sorcery of Ularic the sorcerer who had been his jailer. Meanwhile, back on Earth Thor finds Jane Foster being held captive by an overzealous news reporter named Harris Hobbs who used her as bait to lure the Son of Odin into revealing his dual identity as Dr. Don Blake in front of his camera. While the Absorbing Man carves a swathe through Asgard's finest warriors to the very throne-room of Odin himself, Thor cuts a deal with Hobbs to protect his secret identity. Also, don't miss Tales of Asgard as Thor and Loki face off when is risen "The Grim Specter of Mutiny!" (by Lee and Kirby).
