THOR (1962) (#83-125 JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY, 126-502) #109 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Thor (1962) #109
Guest-starring Magneto and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. “When Magneto Strikes!” is written by Stan Lee with art by Jack Kirby and Chic Stone. Our story begins with the God of Thunder acknowledging an honor bestowed upon him at the World’s Fair in the form of a stone sculpture in his likeness. But even as heroism is being revered in one part of the city, revenge and cruelty is at work across town in New York Harbor. A cleverly disguised submarine arrives piloted by Magneto, the malevolent master of magnetism, and crewed by Toad, Mastermind, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch: the much-feared Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.

The Brotherhood’s clandestine mission is to seek out and destroy their hated foes, the X-Men. And after Magneto sends his minions out to do his bidding in the streets of Manhattan, he begins to conduct experiments augmenting his terrible mutant power for the coming battle. The result is chaos in the city as all metal objects, including cars, begin to levitate into the sky. Thor tracks the source of the phenomena to Magneto’s ship and soon goes head to head with one the Marvel Universe’s greatest villains! Also, don’t miss the mythic action when, incredibly on the brink of war, Odin tells Thor he has been “Banished from Asgard!,” a Tale of Asgard by Lee and Kirby with inks by Vince Colletta.
