Guest starring the Doom Patrol. "The Fifth Titan" is written by Bob Haney with art by Bill Molno and Sal Trapani. Beast Boy, later known as Changeling, would one day become a key member of the New Teen Titans which also included Robin, Cyborg, Raven, Starfire, Kid Flash and Wonder Girl. But in our tale, Gar Logan is still desperately searching for a place to fit in. Forbidden by his guardian to join the Doom Patrol, the shape-shifting Beast Boy starts making a pest of himself and gets chased out of the house by Robotman, Negative Man and Elasti-Girl before turning to the Titans.

However, once Gar makes his pitch to join the Titans he realizes that they also won't allow him in without his guardian's consent. Dejected, the polymorphing adolescent joins up with a circus run by a shady character named Baltzer, the Beast Master. All seems well as Baltzer makes Beast Boy his star attraction, showering him with attention and good feelings.
