SPOOF (1970) #3 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Spoof #3
The Lunatic Side of Life is fully explored in this off-the-wall send up of popular culture circa 1972. First off, in a parody of killer animal films including "Empire of the Ants," "Killer Bees" and "Frogs," watch out for "F-F-Frogs!," a cautionary tale of how amphibians can get payback for environmental pollution. Written by Stu Schwartzberg and drawn by Marie Severin and Herb Trimpe, this story pulls every sight gag out of the bag. A photo-journalist meets a whacked out family who has become the target of a swamp-based assault by frogs, toads and snakes. Who will survive when the slimy ones come a-knockin' at the plantation door?

Then, meet "The Part-Rich Family," a made-for-TV clan of concert performers who know what being superstars is all about: money! The leader of this allegedly talented horde is David Crassity, perennial teenager and espouser of the philosophy of love 'em and leave 'em (without their cash). As head of the Enslave the Children Federation, he inspires facsimiles of the Jackson 5 and the Osmonds to milk their young fans for as much moola as they can get. Enjoy the hilarity from writers Steve Gerber and Bruce Carlin and artist Henry Scarpelli. Finally, in "What if Celebrities Ran for President?," writer Marv Wolfman and artists Marie Severin and John Costanza lampoon the right, the left and the complacent voting public. Cookie Monster for President?
