Plot Synopsis: Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos (1963) #13
Guest starring Captain America and Bucky. "Fighting Side by Side with Captain America and Bucky!" is written by Stan Lee with art by Jack Kirby and Dick Ayers. The friendship between Nick Fury and Captain America has spanned over six decades from the days of World War II through the fight against the Red Menace in the 1950s the turbulent, politically charged '60s and even on past the fall of the Soviet Union into the 21st century. Over the years, the friendship between the hard-bitten commando and the colorful symbol of freedom became world-famous. And here's how it all began.

Behind enemy lines to investigate increased Nazi activity along the English Channel, Cap and Bucky realize that they need to call in reinforcements. The word goes out to Sgt. Fury and his legendary Howling Commandoes to answer the call of the Star-Spangled Avenger. At first, Fury is skeptical of Cap's bona fides and casts disparaging remarks about his flashy costume and high profile. But once the Howlers join the costumed crime-fighters in the fight against the Third Reich, Fury learns a new respect for the shield-slinging sentinel of liberty!
