SGT. FURY AND HIS HOWLING COMMANDOS (1963) #11 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos (1963) #11
"The Crackdown of Capt. Flint!" is written by Stan Lee and drawn by Dick Ayers and George Bell. Cover by Jack Kirby. As leader of the Howling Commandos, the most elite squad of Army paratroopers ever to put it to old Adolf, Sgt. Fury prides himself on his unconventional style. His men, each drawn from a far corner of the U.S. and England, follow his example and follow their own styles with individual flare. Their company commander, Capt. Sawyer, tolerates their flaunting of regulations because of the Howling Commandos' sterling success record. But when Sawyer has to temporarily turn over his command to by-the-book Captain Flint, the Howlers are in for a rude awakening.

Flint quickly establishes himself as a tyrant more concerned with regulations than getting the job done right. And Fury's rival Bull McGiveney sets Nick up to start out on Flint's bad side, it becomes a tough road for the Howlers. After forcing the Commandos to put on regulation uniforms and helmets, Flint insists on coming along with them on their next mission. Off the coast of Normandy, a submarine lets the Howlers off in a raft. After climbing a seaside cliff, the Howlers' job is to stop a convoy of Nazis carrying weapons to the front. It should be a cakewalk for the Howlers. But because Flint insists on wearing bright shiny captain's bars on his helmet and doing everything else by the book whether it makes sense or not, the situation quickly turns south. Can Sgt. Fury and his Howlers not only survive this skirmish with Jerry but also their tumultuous time with the notorious Captain Flint?
