SECRET INVASION: REQUIEM (2008) #1 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Secret Invasion: Requiem (2008)
First appearance of Wasp II. Janet Van Dyne, wealthy socialite, adventuresome super-hero and founding member of the Avengers, is dead, killed by a booby trap designed by the shape-shifting Skrulls who'd hoped she'd serve as their doomsday device in case their invasion failed. And as Jocasta, the android created by Ultron and imbued with Janet's thoughts and memories, tries to help Hank Pym deal with his loss, we are treated to two stories highlighting key points in the relationship of Hank and Janet, one happy and one tragic.

First, writer H.E. Huntley re-scripts a Stan Lee story, drawn by Jack Kirby and Don Heck and originally published in Tales to Astonish #44, in which Dr. Pym, then Ant-Man, seeks out a companion to share his adventures and finds beautiful and young Janet Van Dyne. Seeking justice for the murder of her father, Janet becomes the Wasp in a story titled "Ant-Man and the Wasp vs. the Creature from the Kosmos!" Next, we witness the sordid behavior that got Hank, as Yellowjacket, kicked out of the Avengers via "Court-Martial" (a story from Avengers #213, written by Jim Shooter and drawn by Bob Hall and Dan Green). Finally, Hank decides the best way to honor his ex-wife's life is to take on her mantle as the new Wasp in "How I'll Remember You" by writer Dan Slott and artist Khoi Pham.
