SECRET INVASION (2008) #8 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Secret Invasion (2008) #8
Final issue. Death of the Wasp I. It began as clandestine infiltration of the ranks of America's super-hero groups, progressed through the fulmination of venomous Civil War among them and now ends with a violent conflagration in the middle of New York City's Central Park. Dozens of super-heroes, super-villains and super secret agents band together to turn back the invading Skrull army. But as in any war, there are casualties. And in this conflict, the cost of peace is the life of Janet (the Wasp) Van Dyne.

Infected with poisoned Pym particles given her by a Skrull agent she thought was her ex-husband Hank Pym, the Wasp grows to enormous size and then becomes unstable, transforming into a gigantic bomb capable of destroying all life around her. Only through the power and quick thinking of Thor is the menace nullified as Janet's exploding body is dissipated by the magic of Mjolnir, the uru hammer. The remaining Skrulls fall quickly after that and Iron Man discovers a ship in orbit containing all of the kidnapped heroes whom the Skrulls had impersonated, including the real Hank (Yellowjacket) Pym, who now must grieve over the death of his ex-wife. And in the wake of the invasion, still smarting from the betrayal of their trust by their beloved super-heroes, Americans turn to a new hero in their midst: Norman Osborn!
