SECRET INVASION (2008) #1 BLANK CVR - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Secret Invasion (2008) #1
Premiere issue. Story by Brian Michael Bendis and art by Leinil Yu and Mark Morales. The Skrulls, an imperialist alien race with the ability to assume any shape or form they desire, have begun their invasion of Earth. It's a pre-emptive strike, aimed at keeping humans from spreading their "violent tendencies" to other worlds (like they're ones to talk). Indications are that the Skrulls sent advance agents to Earth impersonating super-heroes, months, perhaps even years, ago. As evidence, Tony (Iron Man) Stark shows Reed (Mr. Fantastic) Richards and Hank (Yellowjacket) Pym the corpse of a Skrull that had been impersonating Elektra.

While three of the greatest minds in the Marvel Universe ponder how to detect seemingly the undetectable doubles among them, Iron Man is interrupted by an urgent report from the Peak, the orbiting headquarters of S.W.O.R.D. (the Sentient World Observation and Response Department). Its message: a single Skrull ship is heading for the Savage Land and the Mighty Avengers must scramble to meet it. At the same time, Spider-Woman tells Luke Cage to send the New Avengers. When the rival teams investigate the ship crash-site, they are astonished to see several super-heroes they thought long dead emerge from the wreckage!
